Duke Nukem Forever seems to have embraced the fact that it won't be winning any friends from the radical feminist quarter, and has released a web game in which you shoot targets to make women take their clothes off.
Duke Nudem (NSFW) is a fairly rubbish shooting gallery game, in which the objective of the game is to hit the target before a lady in order to get her to strip. You "defeat" the woman by getting her to take her bra off. I could suggest that this game is about how nudity is acquired through domination and conquering, hence imply that Gearbox is run by supporters of rape culture. I'll leave that to more sincere people, though, because I'm only saying it to sound absurd.
In conclusion, this game is dumb and not very sexy, not least of all because the women really don't look like they're enjoying themselves very much. Where's the fun in that?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
First they get this hard to read gery color and now they are a smaller font too? WTF?

Why is there a link to a related story called Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas cheats?
IS IT 2004 AGAIN?? HAVE I GONE BACK IN TIME??
I don't see how it's radical feminism to think that women deserve to be treated with respect.
A woman choosing to do something they're not enjoying is not connected to rape in any way. If they were being forced to do it, then yeah, but they're not.
"I don't see how it's radical feminism to think that women deserve to be treated with respect."
Never said it was, but it's the radical feminists who are going to hate on it, while most other women will probably just ignore it as stupid.
As for the women, you claim they're not being "forced" to do it. Equally, we don't know that they weren't (their implied discontent supports the latter more than the former but regardless, we just don't know). I'm not saying the makers are rape apologists, but clearly, female sexual autonomy is not something they completely value.
Sure you, and I, and many others would prefer a chick to be happy to be getting naked, some devia.... people like to see unhappy chicks being forced to get nekkid and those people deserve to life their life without this kind of outrageous ridicule...
... don't they?
(oh, and I also can't comment on ANY of the c-blogs... did a post in site support about it, but yeah, still not working for me.)
As to the duke... it's strip poker, not a big deal really. If you lose, YOU have to strip. Meh, it's not gonna do their marketing any good as it comes across as a bit stupid - and not like absolutely totally largely stupid which would be better for selling Duke.
I've not set up my rules anymore than you have. We all have a personal way of looking at things. I believe it's the radical feminists who will write huge blog posts about this, and get really furious. I also believe most other women will simply rolls their eyes. A fair few might find it funny, too. I don't think it's "unfair" to suggest that the radical feminists will be the ones who won't let this go. I'm merely going by the precedent that's been set in the past.
My first sentence in the article didn't mean to imply that ONLY radical feminists could be pissed off. It's a reference to the fact that Gearbox is ALREADY hated by that division of people, and it seems to be reveling in it.
As for the "were they forced?" angle. No, we cannot rule out the possibility that Randy Pitchford is off-camera with a loaded gun pointed at the women's faces, but do we really think that's what happened? I never said they looked scared or uncomfortable. I just said they weren't enjoying themselves, which is more about the fact that they're getting paid and are going through the motions, not that they're upset or about to cry. They're not into it, is all I meant.
My thing about "rape culture" was a separate joke, anyway. That was about women being undressed after being "defeated", and the potential way one could twist that to imply something darker.
If you're playing strip poker and you lose a round and have to take off a piece of clothing are you going to "look like you're enjoying it"? I'm pretty sure these models were directed to look pouty and unhappy since their removing a piece of clothing is the consequence for LOSING a competitive match. People don't generally enjoy losing.
... And why/how would these women have been forced to do this? I'm betting they were probably paid pretty well for a short modeling shoot that included them baring their bosoms.
No offense or anything, just seems like you're reading way too much into this silly little flash game that has some naked breasts in it.
Are you serious? You really think it's possible that Gearbox forced these women to do this? You've got to be trolling. Or a fox news employee. Christ. Why don't you sue them for it.
Reverse sexism.
Because that "opressed female" point of view had existed so long that a double standard exists in favor of women being able to do/say pretty much whatever the hell they want without fear of consequence or having a bunch of radical hateful cunts jump down their throats.
Life is unfair. Everybody thinks they deserve some sort of special treatment. Guess what?
NO ONE DOES.
What the hell are you talking about?
Grey is hard to read
Too much clutter to get to the comments section, which is where the meat of Destructoid is.
I don't like what they did with blogs sidebar. I liked it better when if a blog got 5+ faps it would stay on the sidebar. For my last monthly musing I had 2 people tell me they don't normally read blogs, but they knew the game I was talking about so the sidebar caught their attention, and they decided to read my blog. It's nice that the promoted blogs have been given a spotlight again, but they already had their time to shine when they were promoted. It's not fair that the blog sidebar automatically defaults to show their stuff while new blogs get less attention. I also don't like how the blog and forum buttons have been moved all the way to the right. I think all of this was done to better integrate the Destructoid communities, but it's actually doing the opposite.
I'm not super worried about any of this though. Dtoid listens to us, and they don't force us deal with unwanted change like other sites do.
Not seeing grey comments on Dtoid toilet edition.
WOOOOOO TOILETS.
Well in this case isn't this sort of double standard justified? White guys have pretty much been ruling shit for a while now. And only since 1919 have women (U.S.) gotten the right to vote. And even since then they still don't make equal pay to men, still have the glass ceiling and still are expected to be a mom and have a career. Shit is not easy, so this type of standard is ok and maybe even necessary. Your right life isn't fair, why not try to balance it out?
not really my type of game :P
Surely, this will upset some people. That's half the point by this juncture.
THAT IS ALL.
I have no interest trying to change a doomed world. The overwhelming majority of it's denizens are content to cry foul at every little injustice an expect to get what they want as if it's their right. I will do nothing for those who won't help themselves.
I agree its a doublestandard I would go as far as to say feminism has become more about keeping all the pros of being female and letting men feel guilty. If all woman and men are to be seen equal we should also not feel like having to be a womans knight in shining armor on these subjects.
It has become a form of oppressing men by playing into our guilt whenever such a person feels injustice has been done on their behalf. In a free soceity above such things shouldnt we applaud women who do a job they wanna do. If that is taking their clothes off so be it women in these times should not be seen as weak.
They made their money maybe they had to look like they didnt enjoy it they were losing after all...on the other hand its safe to assume they applied to do the job out of their own free will and got paid.
And you know what i support the free will of any individual person male or female to do the job they want and get paid for it. And definitely a whole lot more then any feminist movement who feels these girls should have turned down work to support their imo outdated agenda.
Instead of looking at it as weak girls getting naked, look at it as girls who did a job. Cause honestly anyone putting a feminist spin on this must see these girls as weak. One would think thats a bit like being a hypocrite....cause if men and woman should be treated equal in your mind them taking a job is their own right. And imo isnt that what equal treatment is all about? Having choices and making those choices for yourself...
I'm a woman and I laugh at this game. Everyone knows Duke Nukem is for silly sexist fun; who cares?
