I have no comments on the reviews written by clueless critics..... But here's a comment on the reviews written by these clueless critics.

Considering that commercial success is really the main driving point behind games or movies. If you didn't think it would make money why are you trying to develop it? Overall, I think the reviews are a bit too harsh as I think reviewers can't get it out of their head this was in development for 12 years. When really a majority of those 12 years involved altering a game engine just to have that work be wasted when twice they switched to a new game engine. Not to mention the lack of developers on it compared to most games today.
God dammit, why won't this game just go away!? I'm now starting to actively dislike Gearbox for putting this stupid game in the public eye so much.
Negative reviews get more attention than positive ones do, so reviewers have more incentive to nitpick and trash a game. I was never a duke nukem fan, really, always been indifferent, but I am glad to see that a game that gets slammed left and right is still selling. User reviews from people who aren't getting paid are the only reviews take seriously

I thought you kept including the score as kind a joke, rubbing it in, in all articles about Duke. Found that rather funny until I saw other articles with different scores for different games

So far I find DNF to be brainless fun BUT why the long load times? I die a lot and it seems I see the loading screen more then the game!

The problem is that Gearbox forgot that Duke Nukem 3D was actually a good game, and the best shooter of it's time. An over-the-top ode to the old game was a shit design strategy. They should've focused on making a good game instead of trying to be Serious Sam or Painkiller.

Now I haven't personally played the game but if even a quarter of what jim wrote in his review was true, then the game deserved to get trashed.
Well I like the game. of course it's no call of duty. Did I expect better yes I did. Yet I am not going to drga it through the mud over it. Also it does help it's cause I just bought it from a friend for 30 dollars. So it being that cheap did help. :3

Dude, whatever problems DNF has, I promise NONE of them were caused by the Voice Actor!! They didn't design the levels or write the dialouge, they just read the lines they were given. He's just defending a product with his name on it, I don't blame him. Give it six months he'll probably say it's trash then.
let the boy cook, the reviews are out nothing anybody can do about that now, and a review is still that persons opinion so y the people behind dnf would care so much they knew what they were making and putting out there for people to see. i was wondering when Jon st. john would speak his mind about this. gearbox is probly putting more of their efforts into the doug huggem game so reviews should be infinitely better

Writing off a review as "clueless" and erroneously stating that the reviews compared DNF to COD (patently untrue -- in fact, several reviews complained about the way in which Duke Nukem Forever COPIED Call of Duty) is a pretty shit counterpoint.

No surprised that Jon would defend the game. He seems like the kind of guy that genuinely loves the characters he plays and in ever y single interview about DNF he sounds quite excited to be back in the role. So I guess he just felt like he had to say something.

Ico is a terrible game apparently since it didn't sell well. But really, Jim, obviously if you gave DNF a 10/10 you wouldn't be so clueless in the first place, right? That, or you could be a voice actor in the game you're reviewing. That would also make your opinion in the game more respectable.
Also, it seems people are misunderstanding something. NOBODY wanted Call of Duty out of DNF, but in reality, that's pretty much what it is.

it's one thing to disagree with a review, it's another to refer to the reviewers as "clueless" when in fact, game reviewers are probably some of the most informed and dedicated people you want to review your game. can't blame jsj for defending his game, can definitely blame him for sounding like an ass!

I'm not sure comparing Vanquish to Fallout: New Vegas is a even comparison. Fallout is an old and very popular franchise. Vanquish is a new IP from a quirky newcomer. There were more eyes on Fallout to begin with. To refine the earlier point, negative reviews of 'popular' games generate more traffic.

I just checked Jon St. Jon's gamertag and the only game on there is Fracture. He has every trophy too.

A lot of reviewers have much affection for the character. They just think the game is shit. I don't see how that makes them clueless. Also, a lot of the comparisons I've seen to other games are only brought up because reviewers think DNF (unsuccessfully) tries to ape the style of other popular games without actually trying to mature as a series. I haven't played it yet so I can't say if they're right, but if this guy actually read some reviews I think he'd find that people have done a good job of making their case.

When you have to rewrite your guidelines on how to review videogames based on the hip and edgy score you gave duke to defend your score, thats when you became butthurt.

DNF really does feel like a time capsule that's been unearthed after a decade. Much as I'm enjoying it (I'm biased, I loved the original, and I do find it to be a trippy flashback to simpler times), it feels odd comparing it to modern games. My biggest problem though, is the audacity of Gearbox charging a full $60 for it. It's NOT a $60 game in 2011. I know they wanted to recoup as much of what they paid for the Duke license as possible, but the game is worth about $40, tops. As such, I don't think fans AND critics are going to give it any mercy.
