The need for silence on the subject might have more to do with the ongoing legal brouhaha surrounding the studio and the game rather than its ongoing development, but this world is a place of infinite and surprising possibilities. Example: Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. No-one saw that coming.

I am happy the rumors about DNF is starting, the world was a bit emptier when 3Drealms closed down and the DNF rumors died.
I think we've spent more time talking about DNF than we've spent talking about games that actually exist.

That old chestnut aside, as I understand it DNF is complete, just some ironing out to do. 2010 release guaranteed. Day one purchase as long as it's average/above average for me. Come on, it's a part of video game history now.

How many more gamers are of that same mind? Guaranteed sales. DNF won't make back the money that has gone into producing it, but it will make money.
