A few moments ago, the Destructo-mail received a missive from a Jonathan Freeman with a glowing neon link to the above video. Normally we don't post every video we get -- otherwise this page would just be a giant loop of Tay Zonday songs -- but this one is sort of a mystery to us.

We don't want to say for sure that it's some kind of viral marketing thing for Duke Nukem Forever, but if it isn't, then some fan spent an awful lot of time on a viral-esque promotion for a game that most people assume no longer exists. This whole thing left me scratching my head for almost ten minutes after first watching it, and honestly, I still can't figure it out. What do you guys think?

I'm completely stumped. It's in that bizarre category of too technically proficient to be a one-off joke, but so bad that you'd wonder why they'd use it for their big debut. My guess is that it's an old promotional video for one of the many times they thought it was really going to come out. Someone just leaked it for laughs and is sitting back to watch the fun.

This doesn't look high quality enough to come from a reputable game developer. Looks like a bunch of prefab video effects that comes with video editing software or something. I think it's fan-made.

Duke Nukem Forever was announced around the time my little sister was born. She now spends her free-time jogging around the mall, receives medicare benefits and gets discounts on all McDonalds breakfast items.

It's bad enough that Duke Nukem Forever will never come out; it'll be even worse when I get my snuff film and there's no bukakke shots.

I think the real question is: Is Duke Nukem still relevant in 2007? Sure, we're still talking about it, but how much of that is because of the fact that it's been in development since forever ago?
