[Update: I've been informed you actually carry the babe over her shoulder, and have to spank her little muffins in order to stop her covering your eyes with her hands. Less violent, probably not less sexist.]
Details of Duke Nukem Forever's multiplayer component have appeared online (via the Duke4 forums), and while they seem like fairly standard gametypes, one mode in particular may cause more than its fair share of controversy.
"Capture the Babe" involves players grabbing a woman who occasionally "freaks out" and requires slapping in the face to calm her nerves. I'm sure you can all see where that's going to lead us. In any case, here are the full details:
- Modes include Dukematch, Team Dukematch, Hail to the King (King of the Hill) and Capture the Babe
- There are ten maps.
- Multiplayer includes persistent leveling and stats. Potential upgrades are yet to be shown.
- There will be jetpacks, which are exclusive to the multiplayer section.
- At least on the Xbox 360 version, multi is limited to eight-player matches.
- One returning weapon is the Holo-Duke, which adds the advantage of cloaking the user.
- A multiplayer demo is planned to appear before launch.
It sounds like the whole multiplayer mode will be fairly basic stuff, with the exception of that face-clapping match. You're either going to find that hilariously offensive or just plain offensive. What side of that fence are you on?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
It's ok to slap guys in a game but not women! Prepare to feel the wrath of fox news for your lady abusing ways.
Here we go again.....
Hilarious. Without the offensive.
Yeah, i just went there.
I'm all for sexist jokes, me and my compadres have spent many a day berating 'out of the kitchen' females.
But physical humour isn't my bag.
That sounds more horrifying than I'm sure you intended.
I just honestly can't see myself capturing some hooters chick and hauling her across the map... especially if she's the kind that freaks out and needs to be slapped. They could have done the humour a la Austin Powers and still had humourous women that were a little more empowered in the game. It would just kind of piss me off to see that type of useless female in the game (in fact I'd feel better about just killing her useless ass and hauling her dead body across a map rather than dealing with overdone female hysterics)
It's like seeing someone laughing at a fart joke. Are they laughing because that's the peak of what joke they can get or because the idea of a fart joke is so stupid that it's funny?
Also, MY PIMP HAND IS STRONG!!!
In all honesty, Stephen Colbert plays his character to make really political or social points. What does Duke Nukem use it's humor and parody for? To showcase that being a macho meat head is a terrible thing to be? It's kinda preaching to the choir.
Not that I'm against Duke Nukem or anything, of course. Just trying to get the idea behind the interest. It seems to conjure up jollies more for being purely over the top than to really showcase any sort of point.
We've trully reached the next generation of gaming.
Stay cool, bitch! I said bitch be cool!

Like my pop always said "I'd never hit a woman, but I wouldn't hesitate to slap a bitch"
It's stupid, immature, and pandering. All I'll need then is some steak and beer.
James Cagney would be proud.
There is no reason to be up in arms about this.
Anyway, I'll definitely rent this for the single player just for old times' sake, but I can't see myself buying it. I haven't been much of a fan of straight-up deathmatch games in over a decade, and this:
"At least on the Xbox 360 version, multi is limited to eight-player matches."
just screams old-school sensibilities. (Not that there's anything wrong with that, I've just moved on.)
Tap it fast and hard
also duke jetpack = awesome. actual flying around.
unlike KZ3's useless jump pack. that thing sucks ass.
What's much more offensive in that they've used "hail to the king" and yet there will almost certainly be no sightings of Ash Williams.
