Duke Nukem: D-Day teased and it's all out of gum photo

Duke Nukem doesn't stay down for long. That's the somewhat ironic message from a new Facebook account that is teasing something called D-Day, which appears to be some sort of fresh game starring the gum-chewing king of first-person stupidity. Whatever D-Day is, it has a screenshot, as you can see.

Whether or not this has anything to do with the fabled Duke Nukem Forever remains to be seen. It's looking like it will be a brand new entity, perhaps a total replacement for Forever. Either way, it looks suitably current-gen, so perhaps we might actually see this game within the span of ten years.

What do you think? Reckon Duke may finally make his big comeback, or is this yet another cruel joke?

Dear Duke Nukem,

Why? Why do you tease us with your wonderful looking screenshots, and teaser trailers, only to reveal "Oho, we tricked you!" I don't trust you anymore Duke. YOU WERE MY HERO :(

Canceled in 2021

And like I've said for years, is Duke Nukem even relevant anymore?

Well that screenshot certainly seems to depict a situation that was mentioned in the leaked info about DNF way back.

It's to be noted Jim, Scott Miller is one of the 2 owners of 3d Realms, the creators of Duke Not just, "A fan".

How can Duke Nukem make a comeback and take a place in the hearts of the original game when all the fans are long dead by the time one of these gets released?

Those look like assets from that demo reel that was released a while back- maybe the fan got their hands on the material and are releasing it to the public?

Yep, Destructoid even reported on the scene depicted in that screenshot.

Sounds like DNF just under a different name.

The footage of Forever that surfaced after the fact looked terrible... give me the lovely 3D high-res mod version of Duke Nukem 3D over that trash any day.

That said, a new Duke game with actual current production values and a compotent development team could be awesome.

Whatever it is, if it gets released they should simply rename it as Duke Nukem Forever so they have shit away from the road

The previous proper Duke Nukem was released before Half Life 1, before online multiplayer, before MS being a contender in the console war... So, why is this relevant again?

I just wish Duke Nukem would go away. He's not worth it. Gaming as a whole has moved on. He's not important, and his shtick is old and stuck in the '90s.

Even if this actually gets released, if they're turning a legendary FPS into a third-person Gears clone, what little fanbase remains is simply going to write it off, especially if Duke is clad in all-black and looks like he's taking himself too seriously...

I believe the whole "giant cyborg in a foot-ball stadium" idea was supposed to be in DNF. So yes it is fake. They've just recycled old footage and images.

Duke is no longer relevant to many of today's gamers. I have never played a duke nukem game in my life, and I don't want to. From what I've gleaned, Duke is an extremely shallow and un-likeable protagonist, and the games themselves didn't seem to be anything special.

Why does everyone want a new Duke Nukem game? Why aren't people crying out for a new Loom game? Loom was good.

If 3D realms isn't developing it, it's likely to actually come out. People act like Duke3D and DNF were the only Duke games, but there were a lot of them that weren't developed by 3Drealms that came out, even after DNF was announced.

It may be glaring, and all, but remember: Jim is NOT a journalist (he said so himself) and he is kinda late to the whole PC thing (see recent article about him getting a new gaming rig and the PC elite).

... We don't need no stinkin research. That's for professionals. D-toid is clearly beyond professional (professional 2.0, the new web standard?).

Duke and Jim are both great in their "special snowflake" ways.
