Over on the Gearbox forums, a user going by the name of "fresch" has posted about a Duke Nukem 3D remake project they're trying to get off the ground. While he waits to get permission from 3D Realms to pursue the game, which would use Unreal Engine 3, he's posted a bunch of screens showing what it might look like.

While fresch makes it a point to stress how early these works are, they're impressive nonetheless. Of course, the same designer has also started and abandoned similar remakes of Daikatana (dear god, why?) and SiN already so we may not want to get our hopes up just yet.

Still, pretty to look at. Would you replay Duke Nukem 3D if it looked like this?
