Yep, we're overhauling our comments system at last. We've tried building our own but the spammers always win, so we're bringing in the big guns. I'm happy to announce that Dtoid will be powered by Disqus shortly.
The new features are pretty awesome: it's completely integrated into your account (you don't need to create a Disqus account, it will just "work"), you can yell at Jim Sterling in real-time similar to our chat system, you can EDIT your comments within 5 minutes, write in-line (nested) replies, up-vote and sort comments without leaving the page, upload files and embed videos (no more bb!), earn ranks (yup!), and seamlessly follow your conversations across all of our sites and others that already use Disqus. I cannot wait to install this thing!
You can give this system a try by earning the "mysterious stranger" rank on our totally redesigned movie site, Flixist just by posting a few comments. Let us know what you think in ye olde Elephant comments system below! It has served us well, hasn't it? We're in the process of importing your two (frigging) gigs of comments from the last six years but have hit a snag -- some of you don't have an email address on file. We need this unique identifier as you'll be able to change your usernames every 30 days if you'd like.
Please take a moment to update your profile so your giant e-penis is not lost during this important transfusion. We will defer the import for a few weeks to make sure everyone gets a chance to save their old comments. Also, there's an old lady somewhere who sews breasts in her spare time.

Unsavory comments? Please report harassment, spam, and hate speech to our moderators, and flag the user (we will ban users dishing bad karma). Can't see comments? Apps like Avast or browser extensions can cause it. You can fix it by adding *.disqus.com to your whitelists.
