Videogames have become more and more cinematic as technology has evolved, permitting visionaries such as Hideo Kojima, whose work is endlessly inspired by film and anime, to create compelling storytelling and breathtaking cutscenes, many of which rival or even surpass the likes of what you might see in any random Hollywood summer blockbuster and certainly the games of yesteryear.
Dtoid Cinema is about celebrating the titles with exactly that type of meticulous cinematic quality, and what better way to start it off than with Devil May Cry 3, the pinnacle of preposterousness. Regardless of whether you found the game itself mind-numbingly difficult or Dante and Jester mind-numbingly annoying (at times), there is no debate that this game was usually as fun to watch as it was to play. DMC3 in particular outdid all others before it and helped escalate Dante and Vergil to the upper echelons of videogaming bad-assery, even if the designers do seem to have watched the Matrix one too many times. And by one, I mean a million. Woosh!
But don't take my word for it. Hit the jump for all the rocket-surfing and over-the-topness you can handle, in no particular order of awesomeness.

And the first episode of the anime, "for fun." @_@
I had the privilege of watching all of the cinematics during a viewing at FanimeCon 2007 while Reuben Langdon did a sort of live director's commentary on how the motion capture worked for each scene. It was pretty damn awesome, it got me to actually go out and buy the game afterwards.
Shame on you for not having it already! The original will always be the classic, but 3 had the most solid gameplay out of them all. Aside from 4, of course.
half the reason I played through DMC3 was to see all of the crazy ass cinematics. If you like these, you should see the movie Versus. The action director in that is the same guy who directed these.
The slow-mo "woosh" sound in the first video makes me angry. As such I couldn't be bothered to watch the rest.
And agree with GuitarAtomik, watch Versus, it's hilarious awesomeness.
This past January at MAGFest, Lord Phoenix from Planet-Megaman screened a movie he edited together using cinematics and gameplay footage to show the game as a three hour long movie.
It was amazingly awesome to watch :o I need to play DMC now.
