To be fair, I've been caling the DSi LL an old person's system ever since we first saw it. I'm sure that I wasn't the only one saying that, either. It's as if Nintendo heard us. Now they respond to that, and they barely give a nod to our precious elderly population.
Nintendo's James Honeywell tells CVG: "It's absolutely not just for old people. DSi XL appeals to as many people, if not more, than its predecessors."
"With bigger screens and a larger pen-like stylus it's likely that older users may find the DSi XL easier and more comfortable to use but there are many more people it can and will appeal to."
Then he talks the system up for gamers and families to get past the old people stuff. They push the bigger screens, and really, now that I've seen how much better they look than the older screens, I'm all about them. And I'm in my 30s.
DSi XL 'not just for old people' - Nintendo [CVG]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, I wish I had awesome huge sunglasses like that.
I like the bigger screen, I know my Mom would like the bigger screen. Even with bifocals (we both have transition lenses) it's often difficult to read the text on the DS - I'm hoping the text will be a larger font on the DSiXL.
I guess they just don't want to admit that old people play games!! :)
I'll be patient and wait for NA release. Upgrading from a DS fat should be a real treat!
So HA!
i have very happy with my DS lite for a long time now but it is starting to show signs of age. if it gives out the same time this is released in the states its either a coincidence or the most brilliant marketing campaign ever. that said, i dont know if this thing is GBA backwards compatible, which is a huge factor for me
As for the "it's too big to be portable" argument, netbooks are bigger and people carry those everywhere.
Apparently so. If you have a TV that is bigger then 32" then you are old.=)
I think it's stupid to call thing old people stuff if it is big because their are some people like me who are comfortable with bigger devices. It's immature and unprofessional for a news editor to be sprouting insults and put downs like that as you could be insulting your own audience or potential audience.
