If you have a DSi but don't want to drop the cash for a music making game, like Daigasso Band Bros DX or Korg DS-10, you can use this makeshift method of performing tunes.
YouTube user MNCDover found that the "music stamp" used in the DSi Camera mode's Album page makes different musical notes when the screen is tapped. Through experimentation, he found that the notes ascend in pitch to make a major scale as the stylus taps move from left to right. For music nerds, there are three octaves of notes to be played here, and pressing up or down on the d-pad while tapping gives you the accidentals (sharps and flats). Knowing where to tap lets you perform music.
As you'll see in the video below the jump, he makes a grid to be used as a musical guide, which lets him perform songs. And this video from YouTuber nejuer is actually a really nice grid that you can just take a picture of to use right away. I just played "Axel F," which is my go-to song for whenever I am in front of a musical instrument.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
