DSi bench DLC up for grabs in Animal Crossing: City Folk photo

As of right now, there are two kinds of people in the United States; those who own a Nintendo DSi, and those that don't. Actually, I just got home with the system myself, and I have to say that so far I'm surprised by how new it really feels. It may play the same old games, but the camera and music functions are actually pretty bitchin'.

That said, if I weren't a member of the "gaming press", I likely would have held off on buying the thing until the inevitable price drop and/or the release of some DSi exclusive killer app. If that's the camp you're in, the "I'm interested, but not $175 interested", then I've got news for you; you can get a DSi free! Right now!

Of course, by that I mean you can get a free DSi shaped couch in Animal Crossing: City Folk by turning on your Wii Connect 24 and talking to a weird pelican mailman. Sure, the in-game system doesn't actually work, but it's fun to look at, and from what I'm being told, comes in at least two other colors. The one I got, as seen in the screenshot above, came in black, but I'm willing to trade for a blue one if anyone's interested.

Actually, I think I'll start up two new characters in my game just to whore this free DLC to it's max, then kill them off immediately. I shall name them UglyMan and StupidFace, and then I will kill them.

The DSi bench is only available until April 13th, so get it while it's hot.

It looks shopped? Really?

That's just how pics taken directly from AC:CF look when taken out of the game and into a computer.

FOR REALZ!

How many DS games actually utilizes the camera and music functions? Also, is it worth it to warrant buying the DSi?

@ Chronic- So far, the only game I have that uses the camera is WarioWare Snapped, but I haven't even gotten to play it yet because I been playing Birds and Beans and Art Style: Aquia the whole time.

Both games that bring out the high score maniac in me, and are therefore hard to put down.

Also, I'm still trying to figure out the music program. I just got it to play an 8-Bit version of Led Zepplin's Stairway to Heaven, which is pretty awesome.

And I just left the thing idle for a few minutes while typing this and DLing some more songs to my SD card, and it started playing the Mario theme all on its own.

I officially love the DSi.

See, I could never understand the hate toward the DSi. I mean, sure, you can't break the law with it (yet), btu now that its come out, people are way into it.

Gamers as a whole bitch as much as I do. And that's a lot.

Holmes says the darnedest things! This almost sounds like it needs another motivational poster or some other clever shoop.

I didn't know there were other colors than black! I sure would like a blue one. But for now, it's staying stashed away until I have a full Nintendo room. I am way too picky about stuff matching.

... I don't see the appeal of this pointless system.. Wow a DS with a camera and it plays MP3's? THE FUTURE IS UPON US! What a waste of Nintendo's resources. Instead of oh I don't know make a new handheld? Why rehash the DS AGAIN. And don't give me "OH BUT TAH CAMERA IS INTERACTIVE ITS THE FUTURES!" Yah well the eye toy was interactive too and it flopped harder than the virtual boy. But by all means Holmes have fun with your "new"(old) handheld. Will see how much you enjoy it when the novelty wares off and you realize your out $175 for a system you already own.

I think all of North America gets a black DSi bench. I heard Europe gets a white one. I have no idea if Japan got the bench in any color or not.

Anyway, like the DLC hats from this past month the bench can be ordered from the catalog, so no worries if you miss out and have friends that didn't.

Also, M. Holmes, I added you a few weeks ago after Yojimbo's blog, but didn't feel like PMing you since the main page links are broken after the forum overhaul and I'm too lazy to do it the proper way. Anyway:

I guess that is pretty damn sweet. And all I have to do is talk to the pelican mailman? Easy enough...
