Many of you have been asking to see Excite Truck, so here it is. I thought I'd give you a view of the actual gameplay and the Wiimote use. I've spent maybe an hour or two with the game so far, some single and some multiplayer play. Is it fun? Yes. Is it worth $50? No.

The reason I say this is because it lacks basic features you'd like to see in a game at this price. So far from what I've seen with multiplayer, it's just you and the other player on split screen, no A.I. Also, there's of course no online multiplayer, which actually would have been pretty great for this game.

But, I will say this: I do love playing it. Especially as I get my hands on it more and more. It's a very fun pick up and play type game. There are cool turbo charges, items you run over that change the terrain, and even items that will make you go into a sort of Mario Kart star power mode.

So, should you get it on launch day? No, not for $50 -- especially when you'll be spending so much time with Zelda and already have a party game with Wii Sports. But, if the price drops or you see it bundled with something, then get it. It is a fun game, but seems like it should have been shipped with a few more options.

Others have commented on the same things you've said, Basically saying its not worth $50 would be better if it was bundled in with the Wii like Wii sports and that it would kick ass if you could play online!

It's sad that Excite Truck is so much fun and so not worth the price. I know I'll see it at Gamestop used in a few months and I'll probably pick it up then.

Wasn't going to pick it up at full price from what I've heard from others, and this confirms it. Being a cheap ass and all, I'll probably pick it up later when it's around $25 or less.

I want the game, but I do want more for my money. Although to me there's 2 ways to determine the 'worth' of a game: The amount of game there is, and how much you play it. You could have 200 hours of content but if you don't play it, then it's worthless.

That level reminds me of Far Cry. Having to tap the A button every time you hit a tree or something would get annoying.

I couldn't be more excited for the Wii, but I wish there would be a few more good multiplayer games at launch. It seems that Tony Hawk Downhill Jam is the best bet so far...or maybe Red Steel if it has improved. I'll probably hold out for Elebits, though.

The great thing about such a strong launch lineup is a very tasty first batch of budget titles in a few months. I'd say this'd kick ass in 4 player.

-> namelessted: No, he doesn't have to. Nor do you have to watch them. However those of us chewing our fingers down to the bone waiting for the bloody launch appreciate living vicariously through others vids.

namelessted: Some of us are enjoying Summa's Wii videos. Inside we're jealous cause we can't play it yet, but we still like the sneak peak.

I have a question, Robert. A lot of people have been criticizing the Wii’s graphics, calling them “GameCube 1.5.” Is this true from what you’ve seen? Are the graphics good, or are they a relatively minor upgrade from the GameCube? I can’t really tell for myself, as YouTube and Google Video don’t really give me a proper way of really seeing the Wii’s graphical capabilities. Anyway, thanks in advance.

Speaking of the GameCube, Crecente said GCN games seem to look better on the Wii ... any comments in regard to this? And Dersu, people say the Wii is capable of displaying graphics a little better than the first Xbox.

I posted that GC on the Wii earlier and mentioned in the vid I saw no big difference.

Dersu: Yeah, it is GC 1.5 as far as graphics go. But, we all knew this already, so this isn't a surprise. What I want to see is how it looks when I get the cables to make it 480p.

As far as what others are doing, blah blah blah, I honestly haven't read any other sites since I got the Wii Friday night. I've just been trying to play it and post vids for you guys. I haven't even gotten a good night's sleep yet, so if my writing seems a bit off or short, all apologies. I'm gonna try to get a good night's sleep tonight and recharge.

Sorry, one more thing. I lied, I did see some of that Joystiq bullshit like 5 minutes ago and I can say that most of their complaints are pretty far off base. It seems as if they're trying to drive traffic or something by making silly claims about the Wii -- like I think they complained about the cursor going off screen? This is old news and we already knew about. Plus, they were complaining about graphics on Zelda? Wow, really, a 2+ year-old GC developed game has jaggies? No wai?!?!!?

Yeah I read that as well and was like wtf!? Either fire that idiot Vlad or don't let him post such bs when you know it will have lots of negative feedback. Why can't bloggers just be more positive about gaming in general?

So how are the controls, Summa? The biggest complaint / worry I've been hearing is that people get tired from holding the Wiimote like that for a long time. You looked like you were pretty comfortable with it there. Also, how is the response time? Is it good, bad, indifferent?

Thanks again for doing these. It gives us a look into what we can expect from the system.

If he was having a hard time using the controller for a long time, he wouldn't still be playing it straight.

I don't think it's fair to call the Wii a 'Gamecube 1.5' in terms of graphics, because it seems like developers have been devoting most of the time to working on the controller. I've also seen some effects that the Gamecube could NEVER do that well, like the reflections in Excitetrucks.

Hey Summa, how long can you see yourself playing Excite Trucks? do you think you'll get bored after another hour or two and never play it again, or do you think you'll be playing it off and on?

Oni, shit, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that -- controls. I'm so burnt.

The controls are sensative and take getting used to. But, once you have them down, they're not a problem at all. I tell you, I love the game, but it sucks that they would charge you $50 for it.

Ballistic:

Excite Truck is one of those game that I think I'll pick up every now and then just to have some short bursts of fun. It's definitely a fun game, just not very deep or multilayered, if you know what I mean.

I do know what you mean. This game reminds me of the DS game Yoshi's Touch and Go. Both are very simple, but incredibly fun. It sounds like Yoshi's Touch and Go has a bit better multiplayer, though.

I just want to Robert Summa and Ishaan for responding to my post, and I especially want to thank Robert for giving us all this information on the Wii. I'm looking forward to the Wii, but I hope that Nintendo can build a stronger game library this time, as I feel that N64 and GameCube could've used some improvement in this area.
