Driver: The Recruit is trademarked photo

Driver is a game series that has followed the stereotypical trend of a gaming series; it starts off good and then steadily becomes boring and repetitive. It is still a franchise though and that means that letting it die a quiet and peaceful death is out of the question, because in the world of gaming creating a name that people know is half the battle. Thus Ubisoft applied to trademark Driver: The Recruit, which will most likely be the fifth game in the Driver series.

We're hoping since the name involves a noun which refers to someone who is fresh and newly brought in that the game will also be fresh and new. If the plot revolves around a new driver who is a recruit why wouldn't the game revolve around new ideas so that that the series can recruit in new players? We probably won't find anything out about this until E3 unless Ubi wants to tease us all a bit beforehand.

It could either be something fresh or it could be a prequel to the first game. Which could mean it could probably be a remake of the first Driver which was...well, it wasn't bad but it isn't anything to write home about either.

Regardless, I'm not expecting the most mind-blowing game of the year, but I am expecting something not boring at the very least.

Can someone answer this DRIV3R question.

I rented the game along time ago (And beat it)
But there was one part that confused the hell out of me.

I was just driving around and suddenly like 5 people jump off a ledge and die in front of my car while i'm driving.

I seriously don't know WTF was up with that I know the game was glitchy but that part still confuses me to this day.

I dunno if it was a easter egg or a glitch or what

Enuff realistic car games, I want a car driving game wit the exact OPPOSITE of that! I want cars being able to plow right through steel walls! I want cars that can break the speed of light! I want cars that can launch into the air and sprout out wings that can fly! I want cars that has an interior that is BIGGER in the inside of the car than the outside! Forget nitro boosts, I want cars that use ground up puppies as a fuel accelerant!

You say that like there are more realistic car games than there are easy arcade racers, Chronic Logic.

Driv3r is the buggiest game i ever played and it didnt even have as much features that was in Driver 2. But i still enjoyd the driving, the citys were well made and the replay system was great. The game is way better than Paraller Lines.

Hope the new one focus on driving and doesnt try to copy GTA.

This series needs to go back to the core of driver one...less wanabe GTA more cinematic car chases...

I stopped caring after renting driver 2 the walking around ruined the game for me...

The concept of Driver was good once upon a time, but in truth was only riding on GTA's popular coat tails. GTA trumped Driver several times over.

I'm sceptical if Ubisoft can turn this series around. With GTAIV being the pinnacle, and Saint Row 2 filling the gap behind that well, I don't think I can stand anymore of these driving games, especially after The Wheelman, which I thought was average.

Sorry Ubisoft, but these kind of driving games will get overused like Guitar Hero, if too many of them exist, IMO. Feel free to prove me wrong.

I kinda wish that the series would focus solely on driving, rather than GTA-style run-n-gun. The original Driver was a very solid game, although it had some flaws (i.e. ridiculous cop A.I.). I'd love to see the series return to its roots and fix the original problems.

I thought Driver was a nice game. It had a different focus than GTA, and besides, it was before GTA 3, so it definitely was different than the early games. If Wheelman can be somewhat good, then I guess Driver can still have a chance. *shrug*

I played Driver 1 for like 300+ hours, it was a great, great game.

If only they could bring it back...

Kill off Driver and replace it with a decent sequel to Stuntman. Fucking loved that game, but couldn't stand that they made the sequel so damn easy to beat.
