This should be fun, or completely shitty.
Or who knows, it's being done by Dreamworks; maybe they'll make it into a Cars ripoff starring Jeff Foxworthy.
You Got Served, Step Up, Stomp The Yard, Dirty Dancing, etc. all of them fucking suck!

DreamWorks and EA are making a Need for Speed movie
DreamWorks Studios has acquired the film rights to Need for Speed, the company and Electronic Arts announced today. Production of the movie is planned to commence early next year, with the full release scheduled for 2014. The original story was developed by George and John Gatins, while the former is writing the screenplay. The press release specifically says that it's "based on the Need for Speed series, but is not based on an individual game," which should paint a picture of what this thing is likely going to be. The goal is to end up with a film that is "rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the 70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise." Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) is set to direct. Frankly, I'm surprised it took the project so long to happen given how popular the brand is and the seeming lack of challenge in translating the concept to this new medium. Did you know? Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)I can smell the Car Wreck already. The one this movie is going to be, that is. This is a very stupid idea. Even if it's as "good" as The Fast and Furious Movies, it's still a sad and stupid movie. I fucking love Fast and Furious, some of the most fun movies to watch that I can imagine.
This should be fun, or completely shitty. <insert obvious Need For Speed = Fast and the Furious joke here>
Or who knows, it's being done by Dreamworks; maybe they'll make it into a Cars ripoff starring Jeff Foxworthy. @Mr Andy Dixon: I beg to differ good sir; dance movies are among the worst.
You Got Served, Step Up, Stomp The Yard, Dirty Dancing, etc. all of them fucking suck! The Michael Jackson car from Moonwalker should be in this movie. And they can have a Volvo in the movie where teen girls get pregnant. F&F sorta moved on from the whole street racing culture movie, and now seems to be more action movie-ish. so there might be room for a new street racing movie franchise. Frankly the latter F&F movies past Tokyo Drift just don't do it for me... if the NFS movie can capture some of the high octane action of the earlier F&Fs, I'd be down to checking it out! (hopefully some epic stunts on par with that bridge jump from 2F2F, that whole first scene made the movie for me.) Pretty safe bet. Car movies can be very cheap and lucrative and with Need For Speed most people won't even know it's a licensed title. Of all the good game ip's to make movies of they make a need for speed movie, I really think that is why movies based on games often fail, they just make a movie of the wrong stuff. It doesn't have to be like F&F (fine if it is), could be like Cannonball Run, and that'd fucking rock. 5:20 PM on 05.21.2013 EA teases latest Need for Speed with a grimy imageThe official Need for Speed Facebook account has posted a teaser image for a new game, as shown above.
