DreamKiller trailer is totally metal photo

Goodness. What the hell did I just watch? Aspyr Media released a new teaser trailer for the PC and Xbox 360 title DreamKiller. It stars a female protagonist with the power to slip into demented people’s brains. It sounds crazy from the get, but its more wild than what you’re thinking. Hamza described it as a sick -- totally my addition -- fusion of Doom, BioShock, and Psychonauts. I buy a few parts of that description.

Below the fold you can watch the trailer. The suspense is nice, but when this baby gets rolling, it’s like, whoa. Seriously. Whoa. My brain is mush.

DreamKiller is slated to hit “later this year.”

Ooh look, more budget titles...

Interesting premise...though it looks like it could use a wee bit of polish.

This feels a lot like some Nightmare on Elm Street spin-off. Yet it is one I can get behind. So far, the graphics seem a tad so far, but I'm sure it'll be polished a bit more by the time the game comes out.

Also, points to them if one of the demented people is named Freddy.

Shouldn't this be compared to Serious Sam/Painkiller and other semi-arena FPSs from the looks of it.

The level design is what's going to sell this to me. I want to see Psychonauts-esque level design, like each person is totally unique. Otherwise I can't get very interested in those bland-looking environments.

mmmmmmmmm.....pass.

I maybe would've been interested before they showed a gattling gun and mechnical spider-cyborg thing.

trailer makes it look like a wii game... seriously back graphics, painkiller looked better. the game play looks a little like painkiller/serious sam :/ not sure how this is going to look at the end but it deffo looks like the graphics engine will be binned afterwards.

i'd like to see more substance to this game, like more footage..cause' it's looking like a serious sam knock off

I'd love another Psychonauts/Bioshock but can Dreamkiller replicate the sensation of these games?

Psychonauts, Bioshock... and American McGee's Alice, perhaps?

Heh it's like the movie The Cell with guns. I dunno how I feel about that game because I think it may be a bit much if you start off with a concept of "venture into people's minds" and then it is just kill lots and lots of creatures. If they took the idea of diving into people's minds and added some suspense with fewer enemies that are really strong and lots of atmosphere I'd be interested (basically saying I hope they don't make it the similar to many other FPSes with such a cool concept). That isn't to say they haven't done that, just can't tell from that video yet.

Eh, yeah, I was onboard with the concept up until the video switched into generic shooter gameplay. Too bad.

Yep, I was excited with the concept and what I saw till the trailer turned it all into just another shooter. Meh.

The premise sounds interesting but the trailer lost me when they showed big ass space marine guns. Like Dreamsower said, they should go with something different with such a narrative or else you'll end up with a ;udonarrative dissonance bigger than the state of Texas.

I was right with it up until the point it turned into Serious Sam. Nice setup, though

When I first saw the trailer I thought it was an interesting concept and thought it would be an survival horror game.
Then the trailer turned into Quake...
