Drawn to Life is being sketched for a Wii release photo

The under-appreciated (dare I say sleeper?) THQ/5th Cell Nintendo DS adventure title Drawn to Life is being drawn up for a Nintendo Wii release, according to Gamasutra.

The game that lets you draw your own hero, as well as your weapons and enemies, has helped THQ's DS title sales rise 94 percent. That sounds like a perfect reason for a port, doesn't it?  In a conference call with Gamasutra, THQ president Brian Farrell said that he was pleased with the performance of the franchise, and wants "to extend the brand to the Wii in the future."

Unfortunately, no other details or release specifics were given, but Farrell does say that several other new Wii exclusive titles will be announced soon.

I love the idea of a Wii version of Drawn to Life, but I can't picture how one would be able to draw their characters with any sort of precision.

Have you tried the DS version? Will you pick up the Wii version?

I've not tried the DS version, but it's about time I do...

I've played the DS version, and it was a highly disappointing, boring, derivative platformer with a sort of neat gimmick. I'll pass on the Wii version.

I can't draw so it'd be a stickman fighting with a blob and squiggles. On second thought that could actually be kinda awesome.

I played the DS version for about an hour and what little I played with it really impressed me. A lot of the stuff might be gimmicky but I couldn't help but have a smile on my face. It's a cool little game, it's worth checking out.

Wow, really? I'm friends with one of the guys who founded 5th Cell and he hadn't mentioned this to me. Cool.

Anyone tried drawing stuff on the Photo Channel? I remember it being quite hard. but i remember being able to write words quite easily. Probably won't be as easy to draw as the DS version but better graphics and resolution of drawings might make it better.

It'd really have to be more than just a port to get my interest. It was cute, but at its core it was a simple platformer.

I heard the DS game got old fast, so I'll pass on a Wii version unless I hear otherwise.

The DS game is AWESOME if you have creativity and imagination. Plus it reminded me of Games Factory a little bit, which was a nice nostalgia hit.

My first play through involved Towelie saving the town from evil dark forces, and when they wanted to erect a statue in honor, I made a giant, stone Towelie tokin' up. Epic. I also reflected the levels he was in by editing his character after each part. For example, cobwebs all over him when he went through a cave level.

See? Imagination! I'm picking up the Wii version if they do anything new or beef up the platforming game play.

I'm gonna play through it again except with the Black Hat Guy from XKCD as the hero.

The DS version is... decent enough. The drawing parts are neat, but the game itself is pretty meh. It's not that it's simple and easy: Rocket Slime managed to be hella fun while also being simple and easy. It's more that the actual platforming is kinda halfassed. So you really have to dig walking around as (in my case) a giant eyeball with strings of blood dripping from it, jumping around on giant grotesque mouths and tongues, and shooting snowballs out of a banana.

Also, the game crashed on me halfway through the second level. Pfeh.

Drawn to life was a very interesting idea, but I felt the actual execution was fairly poor. really a bit of a disapointment.

Like other people have said here, the drawing your avatar bit was a fun and novel idea in a really boring, generic game.

The DS version was really cool and a cool concept but got boring for me in the middle of the game. I loved the fact that you could draw your character and other objects and weapons and I am so pleased I chose to draw Salad Fingers for my character. It made the game even better.

This will be a little different for the Wii and you wont be able to draw as well but I guess we will get used to it.
