TSP: I won't defend the ads that come with the tutorial reminding you you can buy extra stuff, but honestly, I haven't seen any of those since the tutorial. Maybe other people can correct me, but I haven't seen the little pop up box that says, "remember, you can get items and other stuff here" or whatever it was since like hour 5 when I talked to Reynard a the pawn encampment. If they are still popping up, I'm not seeing them. It may be that this is still too obnoxious for you, and that is perfectly ok, I just wanted to point its really not that obtrusive and I haven't even seen it since the tutorial.

@Teclo - at it's core Pokemon is and will forever be a social game. You're supposed to work with others to get all Pokemon if that's what you want.
If not you just play your version. Pokemon mostly deals in cosmetic differences than content differences. If a Pokemon is that important, both versions would have it.

Good! I am enjoying the game immensely and I'd love to see them take another crack at it. I also want Japanese developers to have some alternative to the typical jRPG framework and for western developers to see the same.
@The Silent Protagonist For me, when I was whipping a chimera with a bolt of lightning, I was pretty damn happy. Those dlc advertisements at the beginning didn't bother me. I rarely pay attention to stuff like that anyway. Its mostly just white noise to me. Oh, and that meteor spell felt like I was bringing the apocalypse down on some goblins. That was a hoot as well.
hang on guys, this is capcom. For capcom, a 'big franchise' means a 'franchise we can neglect', I mean, look at megaman, and the global releases of monster hunter, and all the games they refuse to translate...
Good for them, I like Capcom. I've never seen the huge offense over dlc in general since it is such minutia, this is such a cheap hobby of ours even with the idea you might be interested in some of the dlc in the first place.
But Dragon's Dogma SUCKS! It shouldn't take 30 minutes of jumping on an an enemy on and off to take it down! And I don't want to hear idiot quips from my pawns every 3 seconds. Plus the graphics suck. That's what I got out of the demo, which made me never want to play again. Its bloody AWFUL!!!!!
I bet they're really glad so many players have found aught within worth discovering. Maybe now Capcom could stand to commission some new sequels.
Seriously though, I LOVE this game. First game over 100+ hours for me since Skyrim, Dark Souls, and Demon's Souls. Just brilliant.

When I was playing it from time to time I realized that this is that game they play in movies when they want to show a nerd that loves fantasy games, its kinda generic with bad graphics.
The game was fun very generic and the graphics washed out and sometimes painful to look at but overall fun wins out.

I'm glad that a sequel is pretty much confirmed now. I really enjoyed Dragons Dogma a lot, and still will. One of the most enojoyable games I have purchased in atleast 1,5 years.
As for the DLC stuff, I don't care. I rarely buy DLC. And unless a game is gutted and/or lacking in content (cough SRTT). It won't effect my purchase. Also imo it's more effective to buy a game and not their DLC then it is to not buy a game at all. I'm glad to be part of the supporters of this new IP.
Now I'm just hoping they do well with the next itteration, and I'm secretly hoping for either splitscreen or systemlink co-op XD.

Not surprised, I think its better than skyrim and KOA because even the demo was fun and not glitchy (like KOA).
The only real reason I look forward to Dragon's Dogma sequels isn't the games, it's the abandonment of QTEs. The Shadow of Colossus way of dealing with massive enemies isn't new, but it provides a refreshing and satisfying way of combating enemies. I hope all third person creature slaying games adopt that way of combat.
I'm glad at least ONE publisher doesn't regard anything under 5 million as a catastrophic failure these days.
Well, honestly, a "major" franchise for Capcom really means 2 things: 1) It'll be milked till the milks gone totally sour; or 2) They'll let it die, while saying "no one wants it, so we don't know what to do with it"
Excellent. Now, hopefully, they will make a sequel that takes all of it's great ideas and ditches a lot of the stupid shit. Like how all Japanese RPGs seems to require grinding ("side" quests, my ass) and this one is no different. Or how it's technically open world, but enemy strength can spike arbitrarily if you go down the wrong fork in the road. Fix that, add some more loot, maybe flesh out the leveling system a bit, add some relatively convenient form of fast travel (even something as simple as a transit system like Morrowind's), improve the climbing system (primarily in terms of terrain), give it a good polish to get rid of a few other minor blemishes and you've got yourself a potentially fantastic game.
