Dragon Rising DLC and patch may hit together photo

Plans are in the works to launch the first bit of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising DLC with an accompanying digital band-aid, created to smooth network issues.

In a recent conversation with Eurogamer, Codemasters executive producer Sion Lenton said a patch would hit with the initial DLC for the game. Sion didn’t talk significant DLC details, but he did say the patch would make things “flow a bit better,” and gave a rough timeframe for the release.

"Within two-to-four weeks of release, tops,” said Sion. "Our intention is to align [the patch] with the first DLC pack that's coming out as well, which is due around the end of October. Hopefully we'll do the whole thing in one."

Sion remarked that it was easy for Codemasters to add new stuff, such as game modes, to the core game. He then said that the Rising team is looking at tossing in some new equipment and even a bit of vehicle balance.

Seems like there's plenty to look forward to on the Rising DLC front. Are you guys ready for more?

Can they patch the false advertising?

Also, is a Destructoid review forthcoming?

Yeah are any of you guys playing Dragon Rising? I always liked the old ones and see it's on sale in ASDA for like £28 - i want it but i've heard mixed reveiws.

not sure if it's just the Halo/COD crowd bitching about it, or is it actually not as good as it looks??

Impressions?

Wish there was at least a demo on Live for this one.

@Magnalon
Are you sure that's not just for that specific mission? Judging by the mission failed screen, I doubt the player could have rescued the helicopter crew by running across the island. I don't have it so I can't say whether or not I'd always be on a mission that would fail me for exploring or if there would be down-time between them to look around.

Here's some more discussion on it. The overall consensus is that if you want to explore, you have to get the PC version, and go into the mission editor.

I'll probably rent it and check it out, but the big hubbub is over the fact that in the video, they make it seem like exploring the island in one sitting is an appealing option, and a selling point for the game: a lot of people I know bought it expecting a sandbox game based on that presentation, but it's really a linear mission based FPS. I've heard a lot of fans telling people to check out the buggier (but more robust) Arma 2 instead.

To be fair Arma 2 has had a lot (of very large patches) to help clean out some of it's issues and it does a lot of stuff you just have to accept that things may go wrong. Plus it's the true flashpoint successor.

If you want realistic fps simulators, just go purchase a copy of VBS2. Be ready to cough up a couple grands though.

I may have sold this game before any of that comes out. I'm not even interested in better netcode. I want the single player game fixed.

(This would be the first game I've ever sold.)

too little too late, all my buds were gonna get this, then we heard they were having issues with their multiplayer, and polish.

now, we bought boredlands instead, and will tide us over to CoD.

whats the lesson learned here?

dont f*ing realease games that are broken (key elements like multiplayer)

his is what they get for not investing money into the Q&A team
