Okay, okay, it's quite obvious that Dragon Quest Monsters is an amalgam of the Pokémon and Dragon Quest universes but based on the above clip and how utterly difficult it would be for Squenix to screw up what is essentially a copy/paste job of the two gameplay styles, we've got high hopes for the title. Plus, since the above trailer is so stylish, we almost want to put on form-fitting nylon jackets and a ton of pomade while watching it. In a genre usually reserved for children, that can only bode well.
Long since preordered. I want that map/screen wipe...
As long as they changed the catching mechanic from the original, we're all good. I never played Cobi/Tara, but in the first game you'd gain monsters by having one randomly decide to follow you after a fight. Kind of annoying.
It's strange that they don't even bother making a new trailer for America, they just repurpose the Japanese one, though I like that jab they take at Pokemon at the end. Oh, and this?
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Either way, I'll probably be picking this up.

"You must uncover the secret of these monsters."
Um...they're monsters? Yay, I solved it.
