The Nintendo DS is looking to be the system to have for fans of RPG upgrade/remakes. We already have the brilliantly retooled Final Fantasy III, and we know that Final Fantasy IV is getting a similar treatment, but now it looks like the other major franchise from Square Enix is getting some port action. Nex first told us about the possiblity of new versions of older Dragon Quest classics. It looks like he was right, and we can expect to see Dragon Quest IV (originally released on Famicom), V, and VI (both originally on Super Famicom) getting the DS miniaturization treatment. Deeko happened upon JeuxFrance's scans from Japanese publication Shonen Jump showing screenshots and information from the titles in development. Fans of portable classic roleplaying should be very pleased. All we have are two magazine scans now, but I suspect that we'll hear much more at the Tokyo Game Show. Stay tuned. [Via deeko]

Give me dragon quest monsters and I'll be happy
Pardon me. I seem to have excreted masonry into my trousers.
@SeventhSense: Already on the way!
Hot damn, that's a lot of slimes to kill.
Yeah, I wonder if these games are going to come out more or less at the same time like Final Fantasy I and II on the PSP, or if they will be staggerd a bit, like every 6 months?
And I wonder where Dragon Quest X will end up?
I thught I sent this in the other week...hmmm
Oh hell yes. If it was III i'd still be pissed off over the time my game save was corrupted, but i've never played those games before at all!
I'll only be pleased when I hear the American release date. I'm not gonna build up my expectations just to have them get smashed over large rocks like I did for the PS1 remake of Dragon Quest IV.
