There are simply no words to express how absolutely impressed I am right now. Neversoft gave the gang at ScoreHero this clip of Dragon Force's "Through the Fire and the Flames" from Guitar Hero III. This is just beyond epic. Everyone of you who has every b*tched about "Free Bird" from Guitar Hero II are going to cry yourselves to sleep tonight after watching this.
The finger aching announcements continue to impress.
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

i was off looking throught the interblag tubes about this dragon force business. I found one of those dudes showing me how to friggin Make pac man sounds with gee-tahrs!
Most of that doesn't look much worse than Misirlou. It'll take some practice to get the intro pattern though. I'd much rather try it on a Rock Band controller, coz' my small hands cant do hammer ons between orange and green very well. Given I still can't beat Freebird on Expert... but whatever, I'm sure I can do it on Hard at least.
Hyper mode helped shoot a lot of my scores through the roof. But really, if you look at this song, it's totally doable. The opening is just a longer version of a section of Misirlou, and hammer-ons and pull-offs make it a breeze.
Sure, it's gonna take half a million tries to win, but if that's what's needed to unlock One, then by cracky let's ROCK!
This looks fun, though its still a whole lot easier than Jordan, hopefully neversoft puts a crapload of songs that actually provide some challenge in this GH, harmonix sucked it with rock the 80's.
Dragonforce is one of my all-time favorite bands of all-time. I've been heard, often yelling at the top of my lungs while perched atop a greasy bar stool, that I will never ever play a Guitar Hero game until Dragonforce has a song on it. I guess it's time to see what all the fuss is about.
It's adorable watching everyone go nuts over this shit. And, I mean shit in the most literal sense possible. I guess a great guitarist is defined by seeing who can mash away as fast as humanly possible, without any rhyme or reason behind their note selection.
Ever seen them play live? It's hilarious how terrible they are. A studio can work wonders.
I'm actually less excited for Guitar Hero III after seeing this. Bring on Rock Band, people.
Fuck. And I thought the custom version that someone did of ThFaF looked ridiculously hard but this...this just reminds me that I will never be good at Guitar Hero. Ever.
I wonder how many hands will be sprained by this song alone, let alone the whole game. Plus, with the solo and such, the whole song is over 7 minutes long... could anyone survive that?
Lastly, picture it... you're watching someone play that for the first time, just like we saw in the vid. The song is done, win or lose, and the person turns to you and says "Alright now... let's try the same song on Hard"
I don't listen to Dragonforce..I never heard of 'em before Guitar Hero..all i can say is the track is cool.
I'm still pissed I have yet to see a Dream Theater tune in Guitar Hero.John Petrucci's playing can blow any of these asses from these bands out of the water. That being said..I need some Carlos Santana, Paco Delucia, Al DiMeola, John McLaughlin. And fuck..bring some Jaco Pastorius in there too.
Get over it. Dragonforce is awesome. Just because the blinding flood of notes makes it hard to comprehend doesn't make it bad. I've seen them live, and it was great. Though I've heard that when they're drunk, as they often are, the show is sloppy and lame. I got lucky.
@ cbre88x: It is a crime that more people don't listen to and appreciate Dream Theater.
I've seen a few clips of Dragonforce on YouTube, and they're far from perfect, but frankly, I could care less about that (it's not a band I'd care about seeing live). I care about the studio track, not their live stuff, and the studio track rocks. Anyone who says it's just random mashing should listen a bit closer. (Though I can't claim that listening to an entire CD straight through of Dragonforce is good for you.)
I'm curious how long until some intense fan (see: any Dragonforce vid on YouTube) posts something along the lines of "if it's so bad, let's see you do better," which makes no sense at all.
yeah, some john mclaughlin would be great!!! i'd personally prefer some of leo kottke's stuff, but then again, both of the guitarists are quite a way away from rock, though they'd definitely be hard on guitar hero. (especially leo kottke with all his quickly changing 3 note chords... it'll be like 0.6x the speed of misirlou, but with 3 note chords instead of one note at a time.)
I gotta say there are no songs on guitar hero II that i really really like other than search and destroy and war pigs. But that doesn't mean i don't like [boldification] playing[/boldification] the other songs. you could put up a seriously shitty song and as long as it kind of rocks and is fun to play, i'll be happy to hump the guitar controller, spin around and headbang all at once for the whole thing. thats the way I feel about this, dragonforce does nothing for me at all. you wouldn't catch me dead with this song on my mp3 playing contraption. but it would be damn fun to play. if that makes sense.
most of the songs on guitar hero II i would never listen to (except for strutter, war pigs, jessica, and a couple of others), but i simply love them when i'm playing guitar hero.
yeah its kind of like a suspension of taste. but yeah, I think the one i liked that i hadn't heard before was radium eyes. just because it sounded so dang freaky.
Oh hell, Angelo, (formerly Michelangelo) would eat all these guitarists for lunch. Fastest......Player.......Ever. I've met him, teched one of his clinics for Washburn back in the day. He is absolutely insane.
i saw a video of him once (michael angelo batio), and it was absolutely stunning.
he played using all legato phrasing on a two guitars at once, and was playing power chords by playing one string on each guitar
absolutely insane
Most of the songs on GH, I wouldn't listen to. As long as it's fun to play w(ho)tf cares? Everybody's bitching about what song sucks or whatever, well, skip that song, nobody wants to hear it. This song looks hella hard, I'd never beat it, actually, but I'd like to try.
@ Ezruh: If you can listen to the whole CD straight through, you must have the patience of a saint. Then again, I've been told the same thing for Coheed and Cambria.
Speaking of which...how about Ten Speed (of God's Blood and Burial), Welcome Home, or Apollo II: The Telling Truth for Rock Band? Singing like a five-year-old girl being optional, of course.

my mind is blown.
I wet my pants when I saw that video.
Sorry Rock Band...maybe another day..
1) I will never, EVER be that good at Guitar Hero.
2) I need to check out some DragonForce! Much love for that guitar work!
Sure, it's gonna take half a million tries to win, but if that's what's needed to unlock One, then by cracky let's ROCK!

My faces has melted again X_X
Don't look at me!!! i'm hideous!!!
Dragonforce's sped up, unlistenable garbage has now ruined GH3's playing experience.
And I thought AFI was bad.
I would've taken more Pantera over that any day of the week.
Lastly, picture it... you're watching someone play that for the first time, just like we saw in the vid. The song is done, win or lose, and the person turns to you and says "Alright now... let's try the same song on Hard"
and he hates us
I just beat Jordan on Expert.
I NEED this. NOW!

And it will. Hard. Because "One" is a truly amazing song, unlike this Dragonfarce shite.

i think i listen to this song's whole cd once a day.
when i heard this song was to be on gh3, i did a backflip.
(same thing with "one")
now all i want is the crusade, by trivium
why not both =D
and yeah, and some malmsteen too, pls
he played using all legato phrasing on a two guitars at once, and was playing power chords by playing one string on each guitar
absolutely insane
It's a crappy song, and I don't see myself playing it other than in Hard Career mode to get some extra cash. :P
