Dragon Ball Online coming to the 360

Dragon Ball Online coming to the 360 photo
     Dragon Ball Z

Hey everybody, remember that little news bit about a Dragon Ball MMO called Dragon Ball Online? Well, over at Japanator there's news that Dragon Ball Online will be coming to the Xbox 360. There's a posting over on Japan's GameJob asking for a programmer to work on Dragon Ball Online for the Xbox 360.

Well, this definitely sounds like another move to sell 360s in Japan. I'd expect to see this game bundled with Blue Dragon for a Toriyama bundle and try to market it to all the hardcore anime fans. At least this will be a good use of the QWERTY keyboard for the 360.

Be sure to check out some of the screens, like the one shown above, over at Japanator.

i'm not even a true dragonball fan but even i'd buy this game if it meant i could fly around beating people up and destroying planets with my sweet hair.

Apperantely they are also making a Naruto game for the 360, and surprisingly it looks good (handled by Ubisoft's PoP team or so I hear). So the future may look bright(er) in Japan for MS.

I think this is the Dragonball game I've always dreamed of ever since I was watching the long drug out Freeza saga on Toonami 8 years ago and always hoped Budokai would be but never came close to being.

I dunno, a bunch of people flying around throwing fireballs everywhere?

That just sounds a tad bit ridiculous, but whatever. We'll see how good it is.

I'm excited. It better not be turned based. I would think something like a open budokai fighting-esqe world would be amazing.

You're walking around Namek, munchin' on senzu beans, BAM! someone looks at you funny, ask if they wanna go, starts then and there, hairs turn yellow and worlds explode. mutha fuckin EPIC!

I'm with velcro. This game needs straight PvP, or a form of invitational PvP like what Jedi Academy had.

Also, clans. Team Dtoid would be epic.

Okay. I hate DBZ. I used to watch it as a kid in middle school. I hate the show with a possion now but I keep going back and playing all the DBZ games. They are buckets of fun. This looks like no exception to the awesomeness.

This looks awesome.

if this does prove to be a standard MMO then its gonna be ran by a third party connection service which is gonna cost money every month just like PSU did. Sounds like an interesting game but i would never pay 10$ a month to play it.

Imagine how many parents credit cards are going to get stolen when this hits the 8-14 year market. From what i've understood, DBZ isn't that popular in Japan and arguably has as strong if not a stronger market in the West. Maybe it will come as a beta with Crackdown 2
GuitarAtomik's Avatar

@Kennigit

DBZ is probably even MORE popular in Japan than in the U.S. but you have to remember that DBZ finished in Japan around 1995 whereas it just finished it's run here (U.S.) a couple of years ago.

To them, it's pretty old so I'm sure the popularity has diminished a bit.

Doesn't look too bad actually. Now if the gameplay is anything like WoW, it'll suck. It needs to be something like Earth's Special Forces, then it'd be awesome fun.

That actually looks pretty cool! But I don't know if we'd ever see it come stateside, I mean cause of Funimation having the rights and all. I mean maybe it's possible, but who knows? It could definitely have potential though! I don't like MMORPG's but I'd give this one a try if there were retardedly huge explosions and fun PVP.

Y'know, that screenshot kinda ruins what i was kinda hoping the MMO would be like (despite the fact that i'd probably wouldn't play it anyway)... frankly, i was hoping that it would be more like the orginal Dragonball, and less like DBZ (which i'm guessing it is from the little girl spamming the energy attack... sure DB had that too, but there is was a big attack, not a standard one). If i recall, the fighting in dragonball and very early DBZ had more flavor and interest to it, it was more about basic fighting, special skills, and a few big attacks... DBZ on the otherhand was all about the big massive attacks, the kind that can blow up a generous portion of the planet. Big explosions and destruction is always fun and all, but i think the fighting in Dragonball had more interest and flavor to it... only thing that surprises me so far is that the screenshot doesn't have the characters flying all over the place...

Though i guess it is too early to say which dragonball seires this game will be most like, one screenshot's not a good judge for that... i just kinda hope it's more dragonball and less DBZ

I'm not really sure this game could work if it was just everyone fighting like in Earth's Special Forces. That game was buggy and not a lot of fun to play.

I'd imagine they'd put in a lot of different physical attacks, but the key game play element here is gonna be the blasts. What I want to see is destructible environments. That would make this game gold for me. I want to throw some stupid Namek into a building and watch it crumble on top of him.

It's okay, Namek's can't work their stolen computers, they aren't real people.

I don't understand the clan element. A group of supersayins having a chllenging quest? Just blow up the planrt and you win. Should the leveling be very slow to compensate for this?

Ok, you shithead. The game isn't coming to the 360. I don't know where the FUCK you heard that from. It's coming to the PC. And I think it will be fairly decent, 'cept for the fact 85.99% Of the people withh be Super Saiyan like all other DBZ online games (BYOND games, for example.).

Unfortunately my brain knows better.

No good can come from a game full of SSJ's beating the crap out of a handful of Namekian nubs.

Would you even beable to transform into a SSJ and super namek on this game? becuase if u could this would be the ultimate DBZ game but if u couldnt transform then it would let the whole game down

Hahhahah Dragon Ball Online is only on PC. They would not put Dragonball Z on 360, the only chance of being on a console would be PS3 because in the past and present ALL dragon ball games are on PS2. But this site has got very unoffical info about this game. DBO is going to be against WoW. We all know this to be true.

Having DBO on 360 would be shit, it wouldnt be Multi Console, so you cant play with PC players. And the company that is producing DBO is not exactly a big 360 game maker.

People we are talking about the same people who made Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 1,2,3, and Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 1,2,3. It will not be on a console because it is a MMORPG.

Also. DBO is due to be released in english into the westurn community in august this year (2008). The japanese version will be realeased earlier. and the BETA testing has begun according to many sources in korea (To be tested by the korean public(meaning only korean borns can play because all korean online games require there korean passport number(this is to find hackers and online abusers))), and many japanese and Korean newspapers.

DBO(released August 2008) VS WoW(released August 2004)

japanantors DBO sources arn't good. btw This is what the producers have told the japanese public and korean public so far.
the races are namekians, sayians, humans. namerkians start on new namek. humans and sayians on earth guided buy time patrol trunks. you can choose to be an adult or be a kid and grow up while palying the game. You can fight with other palyers. you can make your own clan group. beable to buy sensu beans, Cloths, swords. The only enemies that the producers have told of are the sayamen, various 'alien scum', Dinosaurs(of original Dragonball). Also the aindroids were discussed for being a 'Maybe' for a race aswell as a enemy (android #33,34,35 and so on. 33 is told of as the weakest "level" ,this is wierd because in the shows, the numbers are just names and dont have any meaning for there power. Also there is to be a new enemy race of alien in the game. This info is officialy from the namco bandai company team and others working on the production of DBO.
