Dragon Age: Origins has specifications, we look at them photo

Dragon Age: Origins won’t hit retail shelves until late October, but that’s not stopping us from ogling the PC specifications for the title BioWare recently released. As you can see below, the recommended specs aren’t out of this realm: you’ll just need some hardcore disk space and a new-ish video card in order to play.

Recommended Specifications
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz Processor or equivalent
RAM: 4 GB (Vista) or 2 GB (XP)
Video: ATI 3850 512 MB or greater
NVIDIA 8800GTS 512 MB or greater
DVD ROM (Physical copy)
20 GB HD space
If you plan to roll with the PC version of the game, it’s probably best to stick with the above. You don’t want the game to bug out during a particularly sexy or gory scene. No sense in depriving yourself of the game’s bread and butter.

Damn...I have what I feel is a pretty solid rig and this game is pushing the envelope.

It's either really un-optimized or this game will push the consoles really hard.

Anyways, I'm glad I meet all the specs, yay!

Oh wow, I just barely schooch past the recommended specs, after 3+ years. I suppose it's about that time again...

My faithful rig. Defeated Crysis, but no fallen to Baldur's Gate-inspired boning scenes.

That pic looks wonderful, I do believe I was just sold on the game.

Game is going to be epic, and if ANY versions going to be subpar it will be the console versions. This games been built specifically for the PC, then ported to the 360/PS3.

Your old dual core E8400 is old. Quad core/multithreaded games are the future. i7 920 with 6 GB and 4870 FTW!

Hmm going to be 360 for me then, the RAM pushes me a bit. Fucking Vista :(

Well if you're going to upgrade anything RAM is still one of the cheapest/easiest things despite the jump in costs over the last year.

... the constant upgrading to my PC is what pushed me over into consoles (that and the ability to view it on a 42" screen).

This is going to be a great game, and it's nice that pretty much everybody will get a chance to play it - me, I'll be getting the PS3 version!

... I wonder if they would support mouse/keyboard option on the PS3? UT3 successfully did it and this isn't even a multiplayer game where the mouse/kb option can give an advantage.

I may do but I would just want everything else to be new too. I annoy myself sometimes

Eeek. My videocard is the one they recommend. Guess my PC's specs are going to start getting passed over soon.

You don't have to have a console to play on your TV. I have my PC connected to a 52 inch!

Does anyone know if this will be compatible with Games for Windows Live? Don't laugh at me, I'm an achievement whore.

20 GB HD Space? I know it will be different (i.e. smaller file size) for consoles, but ouch. . . Guess I'll get the PS3 version, then.

I really wish MS would announce a price drop on the 120GB HDs, especially with full game downloads coming in August. . .

Multicore required? I know my computer is due for an upgrade, but do you figure I might be able to run it on my sadly-aging P4 3.0ghz (HT) single core?

Phew, my year old PC fits exactly those specs, except for the vid card which is actually a bit better.

But damn, 20 GB? I wonder if that includes the toolset.

Damn, 20GB is quite a bit.

But OH YEAH I CAN'T WAIT

ok guys the only thing "expensive" to upgrade is the CPU because then you would proably have to upgrade the mother and the ram, i have a core2duo and that needs to be upgraded. But the thing is that I dont go with core2quad for gaming, I think that corei7 is the way to go if you want to game. Just waiting until prices go down and new models come in.

HHD are cheaps nowadays, I bought a nice 320gb for under 70usd and I live in south america. So in the US for that you probably get close to 500gb. So is RAM.

Intel is going to rebrand the whole thing soon, no more core2duo and core2quad, it will be corei3, corei5 and corei7. You can guess the price scale there.

PD: Prototype was supossed to work with a high CPU clock, but Im running it on great FPS count with less clock that they claim the game needs.
Clock speed is not that important anymore. A good architecture is more important.

Minimum System Requirements are slightly less scary, for those with older machines.

Windows XP Minimum Specifications
OS: Windows XP with SP3
CPU: Intel Core 2 (or equivalent) running at 1.4Ghz or greater
AMD X2 (or equivalent) running at 1.8Ghz or greater
RAM: 1GB or more
Video: ATI Radeon X850 128MB or greater
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT 128MB or greater
DVD ROM (Physical copy)
20 GB HD space

Windows Vista Minimum Specifications
OS: Windows Vista with SP1
CPU: Intel Core 2 (or equivalent) running at 1.6Ghz or greater
AMD X2 (or equivalent) running at 2.2GHZ or greater
RAM: 1.5 GB or more
Video: ATI Radeon X1550 256MB or greater
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256MB or greater
DVD ROM (Physical copy)
20 GB HD space

Those settings are kinda low. The 20 gigs HD space is what hurts for me.

@Velt - Thats been the case with clock speed VS architecture since the 'fast' Intel P4 series lost big time to the slower but much better AMD processors they brought out to compete. Clock speed still makes a difference, though.

Im suspect of the 20gb HDD space, maybe making room for later content? Either that or every single texture is fucking insane, and the screenies do not make be believe that, especially if you only need 512mb video memory for recommended.
