With an anticipated release date of March 16, Dragon Age: Origins -- Awakening is ramping up the hype quite nicely. Today, we get a short introduction to Velanna, who joins the previously-featured Anders in the "Guild of Mages Who Totally Have Some Beef With Everybody."

I'm glad to have more mages available to me in Awakening -- between Alistair, Sten, Oghren, Shale, and the warhound (I named mine Nanook), the original was on warrior overload.

As you'll see, this "trailer," is only about 40 seconds long. Literally, the only other thing there is to say about Velanna is that she's a elf and that her leather corset looks equal parts inpractical, uncomfortable, and unflattering. If you're desperate for more info, there are some screens in the gallery, and Muscles Nicholson recently conducted a fine interview with producer Fernando Melo.

And if you have the same type of fetishistic obsession with Dragon Age: Origins that I've developed over the past two weeks, check out Amaranthine, a new area introduced in Awakening and The Facehuggers Children, who give me nightmares.

Big tits and a tree hugger. What more do you need?
I bet she can get some awesome spiff.

I had Leliana in that same outfit all game. And for good reason.

...

Seriously. It was better than any leather armor in terms of its overall addition to defense. And it just also happened to be nice to look at.

DLC looks nice. Too bad I already sold the game. Just not worth the $40 I paid for it on Black Friday.

I've named my hound "Braineater" and trained him to jump to mages throates. Shame he was barely effective at that, with mages totaly overpowered.

Shame that this comes out a week after FFXIII and the same week as GoW3.

Will get it when it's cheaper.

@Aurain: Thinking of the same thing. A very good reception of it may turn the tables, though.

"North Amercia March 16 2010"

God damn, this country is intellectually going to hell.

Will you be playing as a different main character? Dragon Age single-handedly convinced me to never be an archer character in any game ever again.

@tim:

Really? Leliana-archer was my favourite characters, she was the only one who could PEW enemies for 350-400 damage by the end of the game. O_o She was also invaluable in repairing the ballistas in a certain end-game encounter...

I believe the word is that you can either play as your original character or start with a fresh character.

Did you ever feel like they over-recycle character models a bit too much?

Seems as though the expansion won't be fixing the hilariously awful mouth animations...

Oh well, will still gladly purchase. Although I agree that picking March 16th as a release date at this point is simply a really stupid move.

I named my hound 'YourPenis.' I got a few lulz here and there.

1)Watch Sten and Your Penis.
2)YourPenis digs furiously at your feet
3)Pet YourPenis

That first shot screams target render - I devoutly hope I'm wrong; a couple of my friends are super pumped for this game.
