I trust Bioware. I think they will take the criticisms of the last game to heart. I hope you can create a fully customizable character again(race and such)
DA2 - Barely worth 1 play-through, had to force myself to the end.
DA3 - Not expecting the pattern to change.
Personally, I love them both, including the DA:O DLC, and the next sequel will be a pre-order. However, I freely admit to being a shameless Bioware fanboy. So there's that.
get Ultimate Edition - depending on the version(console/PC) you will have to pay 15-20$ more, but you're getting atleast 30+ hours of additional story(Awakening alone is 18+ hour story). that's the only Dragon Age game you should get if you're looking for actual RPG game. if you want Dragon Age 2 then go play the demo cause that's basically the whole game.
after terrible Dragon Age 2 i don't give a damn about 3rd one. Origins was deep and amazing role playing experience. Dragon Age 2 was rushed, unfinished and dumbed down mess that could barelly called an RPG with one of the worst stories and characters i've seen in video game in years. i mean it made Fable 3 look like a good game and that's an acomplishment. it was basically The Final Fantasy 13 of western RPGs.
No. They don't. If I wanted to play The Witcher, I'd just play The Witcher. DA and The Witcher bring different styles to the table, and that's a good thing. There's too much [insert new game] needs to be more like [insert new game]. If you want something like the old game...PLAY THE OLD GAME.
While I do agree that the game was a little broken, it was not broken more than many other games out there lately. Its not an excuse but I'll let one of my favorite developers slide a little when they are giving me fun game play with good story (and yeah, I did enjoy the story of the City of Kirkwall and her champion).
The only complaint i have was about the environments and I quickly got over that one because I was having so much fun slicing people to bits with my rogue. Maybe I'm crazy but I don't agree with what seems to be the consensus on Dtoid: I thought DA2 was way better than DA:O. The story was more cohesive. You could see the whole thing escalating to a showdown with the Templars. IN DA:O they really could have broken the game up into episodes and digitally distributed it. I felt the story in the first game was stilted and disjointed and only really came together after you got done helping selfish people so they would help you defend the greater good.
Anyway. I'm pretty durn excited about DA3 and I do hope they take a middle ground between origins and DA2. Lets get a more open world feeling. I'd like some more wide open spaces...even some respawning enemies. I don't like it when I run out of enemies to fight when the combat is so fun.
1. More than 18 months of dev time. This is simply not enough for a genre that requires scale like an RPG. If EA want this franchise to continue, it'll need 24 months at least.
2. To look like a graphically up-to-date game. The bland, homogeneous and empty environment style of the late 90s/early 2000s PC RPGs is really not doing them any favours. How about some colours other than beige, grey and brown, eh?
3. To focus on creating a good game BEFORE any thoughts of extra monetizing and DLC exploitation come into it.
I truly believe that Bioware are a great group of studios and Baldur's Gate/Neverwinter Nights-style fantasy RPGs can still have commercial potential and relevance today. However, EA really need to let this one breathe or it'll suffer from the obvious rush-job traits and critical backlash of the last one.
After the shaky start of the first game, the second burnt a lot of bridges. I fear that should the third be anything like the first two, there will be no more bridges left to burn.
Though i won't mind if they cut down on the promotions, dlc and random unlockable items from outside the game.

Sure, in some aspects the combat was improved, but almost every fight was just against wave after wave of cannon fodder grunts. The potential for depth was there, but the enemy design was so poor that it didn't matter.
That some people are happy to defend such lazy design just shows how low our standards have fallen.
The hate is justified, if even the developer says it wants to mainstream so we can appease to the CoD crowd and that people should shut up and take the change like a man
No thanks, I wont expect much of DA3 anyway.
I hear the usual "dumbing down" criticisms, and it still confuses me. The two games played pretty much exactly the same, except DA2 was tighter and quicker. Combat in DA2 was more about managing multiple targets as opposed to setting up and pulling as in DA:O, which could get monotonous. DA2 was only "easier" because the pre-set tactics were SO much improved, and most people really didn't even need to look at them for the first chapter. "HARD" should be the default for people who've played DA:O, anyway. Seriously, the enemy health ratios and abilities are very much the same as in DA:O, it's just that your base party is more ready to deal with them without doing really stupid things.
I admit that I whined a little myself when I started playing DA2. I complained that I couldn't put armor on my other characters until I realized that I never liked spending 20 minutes sorting armor in the base camp in the FIRST place, and I definitely like the idea that each character retains their individual and unique looks. A big flaw for me in DA:O was that the best armor for Morrigan might be Circle robes that cover her from head to toe, or that Wynne might end up in something sexy. Kind of stupid, really, and I often skipped the best armors just cause they were out of place. Managing weapons and accessories for those other characters is enough for me.
I also loved DA2's method of storytelling. Quests that did not advance the story no longer truly felt like "side quests", but more a part of my character's life. In the generic "save the world" format of DA:O, it felt kind of silly to be doing for-hire quests while I was supposed to be stopping the Darkspawn menace.
There were flaws, definitely, but nothing as pronounced as in DA:O, which was Bethesda level buggy. After three play-throughs, I only hit one major bug, and that was fixed by going back two saves. My major complaint was the environments, and that wasn't that big a deal for me. I just hope it's something they work on, but the same thing wouldn't stop me from buying DA3.
I officially cannot wait, especially since the ending of DA2 presented us with a world in a state of profound chaos. I think things are going to get very interesting.
Bethesda are great too but i never finish their games for some reason. just my personal opinion
I just hope that they can actually get a nice balance between the first and second game, take the things that did work from 2 (to an extent the combat system and the animations), and most of the things from Origins (less giblets, more rewarding mutilation deaths, deeper roleplaying, characters you really gave a shit about, devtools, a more interesting story, NPCs that had their own unique line to say, more lively designed areas, more natural looking blood textures, TACTICAL/STRATEGIC THINKING REQUIRED!!!, oh and your own choice of race, and starting story.).
THE WITCHER 2.
