Download the DTOID PlayXPert in-game software photo

It feels like just yesterday Destructoid was first telling the masses about PlayXPert; an in-game overlay tool designed to put a little less wear on your alt+tab keys. Just recently we got the chance to once again catch up with Charles Manning to see what the company has since been up to.

Much to my surprise Charles happily showed off what I believe to be one of the program's finer attributes; the official Destructoid skin! Not to be confused with just any skin you downloaded from Custom Puppy Skin's BlogSpot, this is a full on overhaul of the entire UI, designed to tailor for the every day community member's needs. Don't take my word for it, hit the jump for a video interview to see this thing in action, or just download our special Destructoid version now!

But i love Alt+tab! Seriously though, this is pretty cool, I've only heard about this for non-gaming purposes. But actually doing minor stuff WHILE playing games is pretty nice, love the semi-transparent look.

Oh and the Destructoid skin is a plus.

Yeah I'm not even planning on using it for gaming purposes. I've got four monitors, I can manage. But I'm looking forward to having a universal messenger that's destructoid themed haha!

First time I've heard of this, I am impressed! This looks awesome. I've been using Xfire for awhile, but I love that universal messenger and browser. And lots of widget options... definitely need to give this a try.

I'll just continue using Steam. Steam already has the browser and chat functionality, and you can even use it in non-Steam games, as long as you launch your games from Steam.

Sorry guys - just getting the hang of the comments system here - lol ...

Anyway, let us know if you need anything or have some great ideas for the DToid version of PXP. If you don't already know, you can download a user-generated widget for IRC and connect it to the DToid IRC server....

Yeah, I can't get it to play my music from a folder, I have to upload each song individually.

PXP is a very cool concept with integrating everything in-game, but I found it to be buggy and not well optimized imho. At the time I used it, Crossfire support was nonexistent sadly. I use Steam for all my games and the Steam in-game browser works great, and the friends and community ability is awesome, how you can see what friends are in what game and can join their game. So I'm not sure how PXP can compete with that, since Steam is totally free. I suggest everyone adopt Steam for all the PC gaming needs, it's rad!

So is PLAYXPERT, and it will always.

1:48, He's using my Screenshot Widget FTW! :)

Arrow - you're right indeed. Your screenshot widget (a community built widget) was highlighted in this video. It's pretty bitching for all of those who aren't aware.

It will capture screenshots in any game and a future feature is planned to upload it to your favorite soc-network site or picture site...

Yeah I'm down for this more than Steam's just because I don't play steam games enough and this has any chat system I pplan on using. It's not so much the overlay system for me :P

Also welcome to the comments PlayXPert--glad you think it's "tits" :P
