Download Geometry Wars 2 on the cheap this week photo

Know what that horribly obnoxious buzzer means? That's right, it's Deal of the Week time! This time around, Xbox LIVE Gold members have the opportunity to grab Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 for 400 Microsoft Points. Download it here, if you'd like.

In the unlikely event someone jumped me on the street, held a knife to my throat, and yelled that they would gut me unless I named some truly great Xbox LIVE Arcade games, I'd probably spout off Geometry Wars 2 right then and there.

This dual-joystick shooter is absolutely worth getting at full price. For $5, you really can't go wrong.

@Jordan

I own the original, but I'm wondering if 2 offers enough variety to warrant owning both?

It's a wonderful game. I remeber the first time I played it, I just flew around oohing and aahing at all the pretty colors.

About twenty minutes later I realized that the other stick allowed me to SHOOT!

Does it only apply to gold members? I clicked on the website, and it says 800 points.

@dixon:

YES! It looks better. Has more modes. Has 4-player (same tv). And it's $5.

Hell yeah, I'm all over this. I found the first one to be brutally difficult after a certain point, but still loved it. Maybe I just suck. Can't go wrong for $5 either way.

I believe the sequel has all kinds of new modes that add a lot of depth. I remember hearing the Giant Bomb guys raving over the new stuff like Pacifism and Sequence when it first came out.

The sequel is pretty much better than the original in every way.

@Pumpkin King

Are you signed into a Gold account? That's the only way to get the deal.

@Corduroy Turtle

Thanks!

I don't understand why they restrict this to gold members. It doesn't make me want to buy gold membership, it just pisses me off.

@Changston

For some reason the web wasn't showing the 400 point price for me but sure enough when I got home and checked via the xbox it was half off. I have a gold account btw.

Yeah, I think you guys need to first log in to the Xbox website and then check out the game to see the reduced price. I was logged in and it showed up for 400 yesterday, and I queued it up to download when I got home. Or just download it straight from your Xbox.
