Ahead of its official gamescom debut, Dota 2has gotten a trailer centered around the shopkeeper. There is, as you might expect, no gameplay footage in here. Although you'll be getting plenty of that this week during The International, so don't fret too much.
Once again, we're shown that Valve is talented at expanding narratives and backstories outside of its games. It seems like many of you were already on board for Dota 2, and I won't be surprised if this video is able to expand the size of that crowd.
I'm glad Valve aren't into the mentality of other inferior developers such as Bungie and Infinity Ward of just banging the same shit out again and again. Yes, no Episode 3, that sucks. But look at allthe diverse games they have put out.
Are we sure Valve is working on this, and not Blizzard? (In order of appearance: Night Elf Hunter, Fel Orc Warrior, Tanuka w/ Totem, Draenei, Ethereal, Abomination, Hydralisk, Fire/Frost mage (generic, I know) and Mutalisk.)
I had similar thoughts while I was watching it. I was trying to decide if it was homage to the original DOTA or not. Looked almost like a Pandaren snuck in there too.

they don't really journey beyond the first person, this is their first foray into it and they didn't even come up with it.
yeah, i wouldn't call them original until they develop something beyond the first person perspective with an idea that wasn't ripped off from someone else.
