Doom has always been one of my all-time favorite games, and a large part of that is thanks to the distinct art style. Imagine my surprise, then, when I stumbled across the latest series on Caleb Hystad's 8x8 Pixel blog.
He's managed to make some of Doom's more recognizable sprites, well, cute. Those demons may want to tear your face off, but you can't stay mad at them when they whip out the puppy-dog eyes. What I wouldn't pay to be able to play a reworked version of the game using Hystad's art.
I'm seriously contemplating purchasing a print of the Space Marine one. Darn you, Internet.

Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied:
"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.
