DOOM and Double D Dodgeball delisted from XBLA photo

As recently discovered by GamerBytes, DOOM has been dropped from Xbox LIVE Arcade. Yeah, remember how XBLA titles will sort of just vanish without the slightest warning? It's happened yet again.

Although this time, the removal presumably had to do with the licensing side of things, as Activision was the one who published this port. If that is the case, then DOOM II should be fine. Double D Dodgeball, on the other hand, doesn't seem to have an apparent reason for its removal.

At any rate, you can still redownload these games if you already own them. And in the case of DOOM, you have about fifty other platforms to choose from, even if this version was admittedly slick. They really ought to consider warning us when a game is about to disappear.

Personally, I hate it. It's a pretty big kink in the otherwise flawless XBLA system.

The idea of XBLA is to tie your game to your account FOREVER. Not "5 times" like the flawed PSN system. Not to one Wii like the even more flawed Nintendo system.

Granted, I think only two other games have been de-listed, but it sucks that you can't redownload them again at a later date if your Xbox craps itself.

It's really unfortunate when this happens, and a big reason why I prefer boxed retail games. I'd like to see Activision come in my house and try to take my PC copy of Doom. They'll be chewing on the business end of a shotgun.

A real shame about Doom, probably the most fun I've had with the game since the mid-90s; split-screen and matchmaking made all the difference. And it was surprisingly more fun to play with the twin sticks, but I used to play with keyboard only.

It was pretty fun playing online. I was simply a beast with the plasma gun. Lets just hope ZeniMax republishes the game if they have a chance.

As I said on Twitter, I can still feel special for buying DOOM before it went right? I think I'll play it for days on end and send out a ton of invites and get annoyed when people don't respond. "Whaddya mean it's not on the XBLA anymore?". By the way Mr. Devore, don't you have DOOM? I thought I remembered seeing your name at the top of the leaderboards.

No more original Doom? Bummer. I still have it on XBLA but at least DOOM 2 is out.

It's surprising they don't give us warning of these things. Imagine the people who are hearing this news thinking, "Dang, I always meant to get DOOM." Those are some missed sales.

DOOM is awesome. This is an outrage.

ACHIEVEMENTS PEOPLE, ACHIEVEMENTS! and it's also the only first-person shooter that I can shoot accurately with a controller.

I can understand the licensing issues that lead to pulling a game down eventually. But the complete lack of warning is totally lame.

That's really quite lame. It would be worse if they started removing achievements from your gamertag, though.

Oh great, just before Xbox Live officially comes to Poland so we would no longer be identified as Germany (that cannot buy this game for some reason). Awesome.</p>
