Donate blood for your MMO

A Chinese Massive Multiplayer Online game called Cabel recently offered banned players and new players the chance to regain old accounts or get new accounts in exchange for donating blood. The offer was given after 12,000 players hacked the game to boost their stats and were in turn banned from the game.

Over 100 people have signed up to donate at the event which will take place tomorrow in the city of Nanjing. Moyilo which owns the MMO felt the event would teach the hackers a sense of responsibility and give them a better understanding of public welfare.

Moyilo owns several games in China, including both Cabel and Tales of Pirates.

I think that's one of the greatest things I've heard a game developer do. What a simple, yet effective way to let people repent and bleed for their mistakes! ... for a good cause.

Will Destructoid let banned commenters back on through blood? Or a 6-pack?

I'd bleed for a good cause, but I hate needles.

Unfortunately, the blood is being used by the chinese government to create a race of vampiric supersoldiers, to make their invasion of the US even easier.

Moyilo takes blood. Blizzard takes souls. But they'll never take my brain. No, I'm saving that tasty morsel for the zombie MMORPG that jacks your accounts.

I remember a while back someone talking about making a game that sounded amazing that eventually got shelved called Cabal (or something similar)...

They had this whole idea of having visions and dream sequences that the player would then use as clues to go seek out monsters they needed to kill.

It sounded awesome when they announced it, and I think an IP like that would work out really nicely with the current capabilities of our consoles... I'd always imagined it to be something like Shadow of the Colossus, except using dream sequences to find monsters instead of a sword, as well as using more contemporary gunslinger type weapons (plus you can't forget the gore potential)...

Anyways, thats an IP I'd like to see someone bring back... I love the idea of spending time seeking out a single enemy and having glorious battles against them... doing that in a more contemporary environment, like a bustling city and having the "monsters" be truely deranged, sick and powerful serial killers (or other contemp. culture 'beasts') would be stunning.

Anyways I think getting these people to donate blood in return for getting their accounts reactivated is a great idea, but they should have a clause in the contract where if the bastards cheat again they have to donate a kidney, lung, testicle or something.
