Shacknews has new screens and details on
Rock Band, a game that certainly needs no introduction at this point. There were several new tracks announced, but I only read the first one and then spent an hour watching custom
Guitar Hero vids like the one posted above or random Youtube montages of
Final Fantasy VIII with Blue Oyster Cult in the background. I'm both confused and mesmerized but hey, it beats Linkin Park. "Don't Fear the Reaper" is a little before my time actually, but I'm a big fan of Peter Jackson's excellent
Frighteners, so it's all still very nostalgic for me. Oh yeah, the other tracks aren't too bad either:
Of the eight listed songs, an impressive six are drawn from the master tapes of each band's original recording: The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again," David Bowie's "Suffragette City," Weezer's "Say it Ain't So," Nirvana's "In Bloom," The Hives' "Main Offender," and, for that extra bit of cowbell, Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper"
The remaining two tracks, Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" and Mountain's "Mississippi Queen," will be performed as covers...

And finally Blue Oyster Cult; the only song I've always wanted for Guitar Hero but never got. Rock Band saves the day.
By the way, is Jim Burling jacked into some mega-nexus of gaming news? Like some fucking Hive Queen telepathically listening to all the mental thoughts in the game industry.
I am an up and coming guitarist, and games like this makes me hate them even more when I know playing on a Gibson Ultra sounds so much sweeter, and feels much more satisfying.
Get an electric guitar and play it yourself with some friends, its so much more satisfying and the easiest nirvana song to play.
the hack version plays terribly imo.
Yeah, for a second I thought "wow that is almost completley ripping off the GH hud" and then I saw clive winston and knew something was stinky.
And Wedge? Fuck The Reaper and fuck Burnin' For You. Godzilla should be on there. If no one knows what that song is, go look it up. It will fucking melt your fucking face the fuck off.
