Dogmeat mod for Fallout 3 protects the pooch photo

Ever had trouble keeping your faithful pup Dogmeat alive in Fallout 3? Well, an intrepid mod designer may have the solution for you.

Introducing dog armor, which is like horse armor, except free and functional. In addition to protecting Dogmeat from damage, it can be outfitted with packs to give him a tradeable inventory and the mod also allows you to give him a new home to be sent to when you're tired of him or it gets too dangerous. There's even a dog whistle available to call him to your location.

The mod allows you get the canine suited up either by purchasing the armor from a couple of retailers or by crafting it yourself (in conjunction with the CRAFT mod). Future updates to the mod may even include a radio collar to allow you to track the mutt on your Pip-Boy.

If you're interested in trying out the mod, you can pick it up here.

Even cooler armor. As always, nice mod.

As much as I love dogmeat, I have never once thought he needed an upgrade. Unless there's a mod to make him NOT attack stuff when it's below a certain %, that way he doesn't steal your Grim Reaper's Sprint killshot.

Bethesda should copy this and release it as free DLC to make up for horse armor.

If only there was Butch armor. I mean, seriously. Dogmeat and me took on an Overlord, Butch died against a plain mutant. I miss the guy and all his sexual tension, but when it takes effort to make the guy use anything that isn't a pistol and he dies five minutes later, the boy needs a buff.

I liked Dogmeat but he was constantly getting his damn head in the way of my bullets.

I know it's not 'technically' Dogmeat, but there is a perk now that means when he dies, you'll find one of the litter of his puppies outside vault 101 afterwards. So now you can take him out with you without fear of losing him as he decides to take on a deathclaw 1 vs 1.

Out of the dozens of good Fallout 3 mods, this one gets featured? It's a good mod and all, but there are many mods that do a whole lot more for the gameplay.

You can type a string into the console and it'll make Dogmeat invulnerable.
