I was surprised as well. I watched it with very low expectations and I ended up loving it. I do wish we traveled with the little girl and not the adult version, I think it would have been a lot funnier that way.
I hope there are some subtle Broken Sword or Beneath a Steel Sky refrences!
I am exited about this news I have read!

This is awesome news, I have been hoping for a decent Doctor Who game forever and this could be it.
He kinda looks like Odo from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's son though.
Also, hope the games are good.
Oh and the game will probably suck but I'll still keep my eyes on it.
You can watch the first 4 seasons of the reboot on netflix instant stream, along with a bunch of old timey episodes.
That said...
:D
/joy!
You're missing out on two great, fun works of fiction. If you have Netflix, you can stream all of LOST and all of the current Doctor Who series. Do so!
Since you only mention Eccleston and Tennant I am assuming you are not a long time fan, so let me tell ya that change is part of the show. It always takes a bit of time to adjust to a new Doctor, but it always eventually happens. Watch "The Eleventh Hour" as soon as you can, it's an amazing episode and Matt Smith is already the Doctor for most people on DW forums.
I've watched episodes from the previous seasons but because of the age difference they just don't connect with me as well as the new ones. The only real reason I only mentioned the most recent doctors is because it seemed out of place to mention old ones and Tenant is my favourite.
So I realise change is a part of Doctor Who but every time I try to sit down and watch the new episodes I always find something else to do. It's like I know I'll eventually like Smith and he might replace Tenant as my favourite but I don't want to replace Tennant.
I get way too emotional about Doctor Who but I'm British so it's allowed!
17 episodes my arse though, what about the Books?
It's about damn time they released some decent doctor who video games (I'm aware these might not be decent).
Also, of the "new" Doctors, Christopher Ecclestone was actually my favourite. I found his vulnerability more attractive than Tennant's goofiness. That was until Matt Smith of course. Because of work I've already seen the first half of this series and have to say that the guy just gets better. Plus Moffat's writing is superb as always. Some of the issues with his standalone episodes don't exist so far in this series because he's got far more room to wiggle the characters about a bit.
His one-liners are brilliant!
Also, new companion is ludicrously hot. Gorgeous, redheaded and Scottish...wow.
Looks alright, and for the mighty price of zilch, you can't bitch about this for shit!
Good or bad, it's free, so I'll check it out.
