If you saw our story about Nintendo's 2010 release schedule, you would have come across a Japanese listing for Xenoblade. Yep, that Xeno. This is a Wii game that comes from the people at Monolith Soft, the folks that did my beloved Xenosaga.
Xenoblade will be known in the west as Monado: Beginning of the World. Same game. Japan gets their version this spring (import?!). It's on the North American schedule as TBA. I like the Xenoblade name better, but at least we're getting it.
The Japanese webpage for the game features a song so fu*king beautiful that it makes me sappy. Teary. Seriously, listen to the whole song. The orchestral swells. Goosebumps. Jesus. Is this Yasunori Mitsuda? I dunno. If so, he's leveled up quite a bit.
After the jump you'll find a game play video that our own Adam labels simply as "WANT." I'm with him on that.

Meet the rest of the team
Too many good games coming out for a console I don't have or really even want.
And why Monado You'd think they would get more sells keeping the Xeno-prefixed name.
Can't wait...Xenogears and Xenosaga Trilogy are my favourite Rpg's.
I was waiting from Monolith to come up with something...finally they did, although i would prefer it better to be on a next gen platform.
I didn't like anything related to Xenogears, but this looks pretty okay. Though...wow, it looks like a Gamecube game. Wow. I mean, we're supposed to expect that, but wow.
I looked on Mitsuda's wiki to see if this game is listed, but I didn't see it (but he DID do Bomberman 64: The Second Attack. Holy cats. Knew it sounded familiar).
But that trailer kind of turned me off for some reason, might be the art direction. I'll have to wait and see more.
@GenStrike - Nintendo has owned Monolith Soft for a few years now. They previously made Soma Bringer for the DS, which has yet to see a stateside release for some reason.
I loved Xenogears, and the first Xenosaga, Xenosaga II was a complete train wreck, and dont even get me started on the redesigned (and lower detail) characters, and dear god that HORRIBLE battle system. Never played Xenosaga III (I own it, still in the plastic) because of the atrocity that II was.
Anyway, I will probably buy this game just because I respect some of the work the team has accomplished in the past. The visuals are pretty crappy though, seems Im the only one who thinks so, but it really does look like a PS2 game. Regardless, Ill most likely buy this simply because it has Xeno in the name lol.
wow... Guys check this out... I am possibly one of the biggest Wii hater in the Dtoid community, but I must admit, this game looks very badass for the Wii. That fluid fighting style and the graphics got me a bit confused if it was a PS2+ game.
For the Wii this is a awesome game, I would even consider getting it if I found out that the story is deep.
on that subject, I loved and cherished Xenogears, possibly the best RPG action game of the 90's to my taste. Xenosaga sucked monkey nuts dough... so idk if this one will live to its hype.
I pretty much agree with Genius, tho I played thru Xenosaga 3. It was actually quite good, but very "by-the-book" RPG with no real innovations or different ideas in the combat system.
As it is, I'm very skeptical about this game but I want to like it, just cos it has xeno in the title
Looks like it'll be the year to buy a Wii. This looks pretty good, Last Story, New Zelda and Metroid: Other M all coming out in 2010 (and possibly Tales of Graces). heres a pretty good reason to do so.
Wow Nintendo is finally going to release a Monolith game in the US? I don't know why the hell Soma Bringer never came out here, it's a pretty great mini Diablo for DS.
I wouldn't even bother showing that trailer. It was a very very very very early idea of what they wanted for the game. It was made in something like a month just before E3. It won't look like that now.
I never did get to finish the third installment of Xenosaga but I kind of wasn't really interested in it. I remember loading my save gave me bikinis for Shion and KOS-MOS and that was just... wat?
I switched over to the .HACK series and now I am upset for being reminded of my PS2 and everything I had on there and my mom sold all of it while I was away for the summer one year.
...Oh fuck am I ever pissed off now, I want my PS2 back. ><
I'm on that sweet-looking shite. Never played much of Xenosaga, but I did love Xenogears. I wish I didn't sell the when I was in my pseudo-religious phase in mid-to-high school and was afraid God would smite me for having such a blasphemous game. Screw religion. Jeez.

I don't understand the name change though. I think Americans would be more intrigued by a game called Xenoblade.

Why did she sell the system and the games while you were not around. Quite underhanded thing for her to do.
The game looks pretty and fun to explore. Hope it comes out soon.
Btw, it looks a little like Rogue Galaxy/Dark Chronicle style of RPG. If it is about any good as these two, then consider it a rapid purchase.
