Do want: The Art of Midway: Before Pixels and Polygons art book released photo

I live for these art books, so imagine my surprise when Midway shuffled a press release my way about The Art of Midway: Before Pixels and Polygons.

Published by Design Studio Press, the 160 page book features over 200 concept and environment illustrations from Midway titles like Psi-Ops, Mortal Kombat, The Suffering, and Stranglehold. While it's disappointing there's no mention of an entire section called "The Art of Smash TV: Big Money, Big Prizes I Love It," I'll take what I can get.

The book is available online now and at select bookstores.

I have this, signed by 3 of the artists no less, and it has some really fantastic work in there. Good inspiration if you're the creative type.

That's awesome.
I always loved the character design and level design that mortal kombat had to offer.

It's cool seeing what the artist's renditions were.

Its good to see western developers/publishers actually putting their work out there, to buy at last. I'm and artist and big fan of these kinds of concept and art design books, which I've been importing, for years now, from japan.

Another great way of bringing in money alongside games, very welcome and overdue. I'd buy more of these if developers pulled their fingers out and got their stuff to printers.

Perhaps, they should consider selling their soundtracks cds too.

What's the price and release date on this baby?

This includes art, because it's not interactive.

I never did get around to playing Psi-Ops, probably because I got it confused with that other game Second Sight and could never tell them apart, eventually forgetting all about them until you brought up one of them right now, and man, I wonder how much longer I can keep making this sentence, since it is getting pretty long, and now I'm getting bored with it, so BAH.

I might actually get it, it isn't that expensive.
