I hope the full game isn't that red.
Publishers just don't fucking get it...
@Publishers - The reason your probably good games don't sell as well as perhaps they should isn't because they're going against Cod, it's because they're going against at least half a dozen other good games and I don't have over £300 to spunk all over all the games I'd want to get.
sorry to tell you this, but you weren't the only person to notice that there used to be a big dead spot in the videogame release schedule from december to september. notice i said used to be, because contrary to what you said, publishers did notice, and for the last few years things have been a bit less retarded. the "holiday season" is still the same as it ever was, and unless they move christmas it always will be - and games will still crowd in before then for (what i thought were) obvious reasons. the shift in gamings age demographic has obviously had a positive effect on the industry.
i hope when DMC comes out it doesn't suck. i'm sure people will still shout about how the "whiners" were wrong if it doesn't, but there have been some positive changes so far, and i'm sure all the negativity has been responsible for at least some of that.
End of the year 2012(and bear in mind this is just off the top of my head), we have Blops 2, Halo 4, Dishonoured(and I've said I'll be surprised if it doesn't back off) and Assassins Creed 3.
Early 2013(first three months) we have Aliens, DMC, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, and apparently GTA 5.
Also, don't be a dick. I'm well aware Christmas will always be a thing, but you know what I mean. 5 games releasing withing weeks of each other im early 2013, probably others too. And I'm reckoning that early 2014 is going to be as overcrowded a marketplace as last Buy Everybody Shit day was.
traditionally games releasing in Q1 are the ones that miss their Q4 ship dates due to delays... and DMC and aliens are both pretty much in that category. it's not that publishers are intentionally crowding into a desirable release window, they have just realised that they can sell games pretty much all year round. and delays from the holiday season (which of course is still a good time to release in most cases) just make it look that way.
