I wonder if that was the idea all along, or a reaction to the outrage.
Regardless, game looks great, but I've been burned out on DMC ever since I played Bayonetta. This new one has to do alot to sway me over.
That was the plan all along. The developer has said that from the beginning, but of course blind fanboys don't care, or listen.
But this game does look great. I really can't wait for it.
At this point, just give me the game already. I stopped caring. Looks so good.
And to what Ren said I agree: Bayonetta perfected the DMC formula. I loved classic DMC, DMC3, and DMC4, but it needs new blood and I don't personally believe Ninja Theory is very qualified.
Now, what I get from this trailer is that the game might be a little too serious. That and the music is better, haha.
And whats with the emo'e music.
But for the record, a parallel universe is a pretty cheap cop-out.
Love that song.
Also, this game looks alright. I'm not into arcadey action games so much, but if they release a demo I'd b happy to give it a bash. I liked the "you don't fuck with a god" line.
It's 30fps, made by a dev that can't hold a steady framerate for crap, they implemented a completely floaty combat style that strips all semblance of frame-specific skill, and their excuse is the environment is the reason they had to slow the combat down.. Obviously they haven't seen Bayonetta's levels where you fight enemies on rocks in a hurricane, inside a water tornado, on a missile, and ask sorts of things being thrown around in real time.
Capcom's answer to the champion of technical action is to take their technical action serious and neuter it into a God of War, aesthetically focused, simplistic jack and slash. I imagine that would be akin to turning Forza out GT racing sims into simplistic arcade racers... Why do that to a series heralded for its precision?
Face it Jim, the only reason this game even remotely excites you is because you find the tears of veteran DMC fans so delicious. If all the long-time DMC fans were raving about how awesome this game is, you'd be saying things like "Here's a new game that really is just an old game with different spray paint". This Contrarian card you keep playing is starting to get old and was never really that entertaining in the first place. Go back to the Sarcastic card.

It looks really interesting.
Seriously tho, it looks okay, but its certainly nothing spectacular either. We have better beat-em-ups than this.
I think they are just trying to expand on the themes of demons into our personal "demons" so to speak. Pretty awesome trailer, cool voice, slow walk was a bit predictable.
i'm going to continue to be outspoken about my dislike of the new Dante. still not feeling the design and now i don't like the voice either. SO SUE ME. the proof of the pudding is in the eating, but i'm already seeing Dante's stupid design and listening to his whiny voice. i've tasted some of this pudding and it tasted like SHIT.
+Platforming has been missed since the original DMC.
+/-The people showing up in the environment looks a lot like the way Bayonetta handled it in Purgatorio.
-Not feeling that voice.
It's clear that you're not a fan, or even a spectator, because we would need a DMC5 before DMC6.
And no - they didn't hire Platinum for the same reason they hired the Canadian Studio to help with Dead Rising 2 - they want to increase their "western appeal". The long term effects of said strategy are yet to be seen.
