DJ Hero 2 teased, 'incredible musicians' promised photo

We found out yesterday that DJ Hero was 2009's highest grossing IP, so it should come as no surprise that DJ Hero 2 is already shaping up to be huge. FreestyleGames' Chris Lee dropped some tease on the sequel this week:

"We're already talking to some of the most incredible musicians on the planet about working together down the line, so who knows what the future holds," Lee tells CVG. "As for new features, we've had a host of great ideas and requests. Way too many to mention."

I'm glad they didn't go with crap musicians. All kidding aside, it's nice to know that they're working with requests.

"We're getting lots of requests for specific tracks and artists, so we'll work hard to explore what we can do."

Let's see if they can make 2010 work out to be just as good of a year for them.

Be nice if they made a nod to the underground house and techno scence, which is massive in Europe and the East, but only just growing in the states. And I dont mean Tiesto, Armin or Paul fucking Oakenfold. So, would be nice to see Richie Hawtin/Plastikman, and others of his ilk, involved, though the chances are slim to none. Hip-hop deck skills are just one sub-set of djing skillige.

I'm not sure what I'd like to see from DJ hero 2. I know I'll buy it though. I hope we can import the setlist from the first game too.

Hopefully they will only use each of their songs ONCE in the new DJ Hero, because seriously, Disturbia for three different mash-ups?

Still excited to see what David Guetta has to bring to the game, although if they're taking requests, I gotta ask for some London Elektricity.

I'd like to see a little more old school hip-hop, as well as some more from the electronica scene, like RJD2 or DJ Icey.

Oh, and let's get a little less American here. Sure, we had Daft Punk, but there's waaaaay too many awesome French and European artists that need to pop up in this game. Like the aforementioned La Roux.

Also, I will not rest until I see Pendulum in this game.

DJ Hero was awesome. I'm really glad they're not giving up on it.

I'm totally fine with this. They can keep making DJ Hero games if that somehow keeps them from pumping out more pointless Guitar Hero titles.

Yeah, notice how it's the highest "grossing" *new* IP from 2009. First, consider all the sequels to previous IP relesaed in 2009. Second, consider DJ Hero's price-point started at $120 and ranged all the way to $200 for the Renegade Edition.

When most big-name games release at a price-point between $50-60, all of a sudden a higher gross for DJ Hero doesn't seem very impressive. A number of other media sources already noted the game missed its sales targets by a huge margin and sold poorly enough to be considered a flop.

Yeah I'd like to see some different genre stuff thrown in there, just for varieties sake.

Here's hoping they actually got DJ Qbert on board. That would really make me smile.

As for variety, more jungle and DnB would be awesome. Throw in more hip hop from the Rhymesayers/Def Jux/Living Legends circle, guilty pleasures like Lady Gaga and I'll have my "Game that was like made for me 2010".

How about some Birdy Nam Nam, Wax Tailor, and the like? Stuff from outside the norm? Nothing wrong with a change of pace? Does everything need to be 120 bpm?

But it made them alot of money so I doubt they care.

Plus MW2 made up for that margin so overall their year was good. DJ Hero really was just extra fluff in their already insanely soft cushion. Had DJ Hero been a dealbreaker or had MW2 not been so big I doubt they would have even taken the risk.

I was going to buy a used DJ Hero (thereby not contributing to sales numbers) the day my local store got shut down. So now I don't want to buy it until I can pay around 70 bucks, which means I'm waiting for the price drop.

Why wouldn't you want to add to the sales numbers? Why break my heart?

Also, $66.99

Great news. The first one had some good stuff, even from crappy musicians, but this could just be epic.

How about some more goddamn DLC for the first one?
DJ Hero really surprised me, and I can't for more, but they've only had 2 track packs so far. I know they have to create the mixes, but still.
More Daft Punk is always good. There is so much good stuff they could put in this game. So many artists.
X-Ecutioners.

Musicians ? No. They just remix and rearrange other people's songs and parts. Yes there are musicians who write their own music, but even then they don't play it with an instrument most of the time, they just synthesize it.

@Wyldcard: so no instruments = not a musician?

That seems to a bit limiting to me.

I'm sorry, you're going to have to do something amazing to top Daft Punk.

And that song which has Vanilla Ice AND MC Hammer in it. I don't think a better combination of awesome exists.
