Let me spell it out for you then. "WTF is his DEFINITION of a CORE GAMER". Core gamer is a really broad term that really needs to be defined or else you loss the audience. Luckily he only mentioned it once and it was passing.

I can agree with many of his points, because he has logic and data to support them, though I would deviate on the point of core gamers all owning Wiis. Also, feel a bit sad for the guy that he has a wife who doesn't like action movies. My girlfriend enjoys them, so I imagine it must be tough when you have to work with different interests.
Well I will not be buying the wii U untill NOA can put there mouth is where their money and freaking get some good games on the wii before they F***ing abandon ship on me.

I love the Wii. It's my favorite of all the systems. But I won't be getting a WiiU anytime soon. There's still a bunch of Wii games that I want to buy, I'd rather get a 3DS, and recently I've been really cheap and have been just getting games from Steam sales C:
The more I see of the Wii U, the more I think I don't need it in my life. However, it looks like it could be the shot in the arm Nintendo needs.

I like this article, quite a bit. While I am worried about what Divinch describes regarding "core" ports, I also know that there will always be games like Zack & Wiki, No More Heroes, Red Steel, Madworld, Muramasa, and Monster Hunter Tri coming out, too. I just hope that it doesn't get to the point where companies develop the perception that there is absolutely no market in the States for stuff besides ports.
Still, regardless of whatever drama is going on with NOA or any other company, I am excited as ever for the WiiU, and really, the day when I stop being excited about Nintendo systems and games as a company will probably be the day I stop playing games altogether.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Wii U didn't start showing its potential until its competition starts transitioning into the next gen. You'll have that awkward period where the next Xbox and Playstation has very little software to call its own and the price will no doubt be outrageous both for developers and consumers, thus the Wii U will offer a low-cost, hi-def alternative to its younger, more agile competitors. It's unlikely the Wii U itself will be able to hash it out for the entirety of the 8th generation but if Nintendo launches another console a few years late they might be able to offer the same kind of experience for roughly the same price along with everything that is uniquely Nintendo.
Since Nintendo love to screw their Fans, I hope not. Then again, the Nintendo Fans love to get screwed.
The Wii U is going to be a tough sell to 1) the core gamers who already own a 360/PS3...as it is not a leap (if any) above them....and 2) Wii casual gamer owners....who probably won't see a reason to upgrade or invest a couple hundred dollars on a machine they rarely play or purchase a game for.

Someone who buys a launch Wii, 2 launch games, and a bunch of accessories, and collects dust on a shelf instead of games for the next 5 years.

If Nintendo can start branching out to third party developers and get some games that are different and unique, the Wii U might be the system to have. I love my 3DS, but I am having to wait very patiently for good titles to be released. Once the good titles are released, I will be busy blowing through those games and hopefully playing online quite a bit. The standard titles are nice to have like Mario Kart, Zelda, Star Fox, Mario, Etc. But something new, unique and different needs to happen for the Wii U. The 3DS Eshop is nice, but they are not releasing big name titles on there neither. Link's Awakening has so far been the really big one and that one can only carry for so long.
I've owned almost every console since the NES but I don't own a Wii. Nintendo has no idea what a core gamer is. I want to own a Wii for about 3 titles. Not worth the expenditure to me. If i wanted to flail my arms around like an idiot to countless shovelware games, then yes, the Wii would be the system for me.
