The music from the Final Fantasy series is epic. Hearing the music played live by a full orchestra is even more so. Unfortunately full orchestras are very expensive and I know from experience that if you try to kidnap one it is also prohibitively expensive because you have to feed all of them enough to play their instruments well. Thankfully, there is the Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy concert series so we may all experience the beauty of FF music without resorting to mass kidnapping.
Distant Worlds has been announcing its 2010 schedule and they just released the U.S. dates having already confirmed that they would be in Seoul Feb. 6 and 7, and in Stockholm on June 12. They will now also be arriving in San Francisco on July 15 and 16, San Diego on July 22, Wolftrap (DMV represent!) on July 30, and Ravinia, IL on Aug. 1. You can't get tickets to any of the U.S. shows yet, but if you're near Seoul or Stockholm you can head here to pick them up.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Kidnapping it is, then.
I saw Dear Friends: Music From Final Fantasy in 05 and it was amazing (I also had the surprise pleasure of sitting next to Gabe and Tycho of PA). This news makes me a lot sadder than I was before that tickets are already gone.
As much as I enjoyed going to video Games Live last spring this would obliterate that experience
The full symphony sound... the soundtrack to my childhood... the emotion was overwhelming. And I wasn't alone, EVERYONE had tears streaming down their face, especially come Cele's opera house scene as Maria. So incredible.
And Uematsu sat 4 chairs away, it was mind blowing! He was absorbing the crowd and loving the love, it was so gratifying to see him so happy about the music he made that makes everyone else happy.
If you can make these shows... you need to. It is absolutely amazing and likely to be a once in a lifetime experience.
Proof that FF fans are drama queens.
I kid, I kid...sort of.
Now you know how us Chicagolanders feel. We barely get anything these days, you coasters get all the good cons and the good shows, it's about time one of them came to us.
