Seriously, Square Enix? You're calling it Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy? Really!? I thought the increasingly pompous Kingdom Hearts names were bad enough, but this is reaching the point of self-satire. Oh well, that's what the follow-up to Square Enix's PSP brawler is called and we'll have to deal with it now.
Dissidia 012 features new characters, two of which have been shown in this meager portion of new screens. Final Fantasy IV's Kane and XIII's Lightning have both been shown off and look pretty much how you'd expect.

And they said they were going to put Lightning in Dissidia 1 but didn't want to show her off before release date.

If that were true, I'd get a PSP and this game for it. One Chokeslam From Hell and it's goodbye Sephiroth!
You may as well ask why Bowser kidnaps Peach, or why the Belmonts insist on all that whipping. Expecting the newest SE game to have a sane name is a pretty piss-poor bet.
Like I said, Dissidia is not bad, but neither was a good thing, I wish they could better the battle system, it was good but... Bad controls+odd conttrols of the ALREADY odd PSP= Can´t take it anymore, my hands died.
Also, I want more FF characters than VII, seriously, There are goddarn characthers that could have been included on the first one... Yes, FUCKING GILGAMESH.
And yes, Nomura is to blame, Nomura is like Miyamoto to Nintendo, he can be good planner, but when the company uses it in excess... You fucked up most of your arsenal (and I quote Wii music for this), I expect a 3DS port, for Squeenix sake, they could at least try.
Or, Mistwalker should hurry the fuck up with their games!
