Disgaea Infinite: Dated, new site, crazy trailer photo

We recently told you that a new Disgaea game will be shown off at Tokyo Game Show next week. Disgaea Infinite, they call it. All we knew at the time is that it will eventually be released for the PSP as a PlayStation Network download.

Thanks to the launch of an official Japanese webpage, we finally have a release date: November 1st, 2009. Along with this new site comes a whacked out trailer that shows you exactly what this game will look like. As a Disgaea fan -- one who is currently enjoying Disgaea 2 (review soon!) -- I can say that this trailer looks great.

It would be strange for NIS America to not be localizing this.  We meet with them next week, so I'll be sure to ask about it.

So it's for PSP rather than for PSN/Download Play? Heh...lame.

How many people on Dtoid actually play their PSP, or would rather have that than a PSN release? I'm curious.

Oh hell yes! And from the looks of it, Laharl is back, the best main character in the series.

If NIS America took the time to localize Prinny, Can I Really Be the Hero? and downloadable content for said side-project, then there is no way they would not localize something that actually has 'Disgaea' in the name.

hey if you're meeting with them ask them if they can port these games to downloadable services like XBLA or PSN (for the PS3). Now that Xbox has gotten lax on the 720p it should be possible to upscale these games to 480p ala the PS2. Charge 1200-1600MS points and they could have expanded their market share once again.

Just spent some time looking at the site. This is not your conventional Disgaea game; it's a "Loop-type Text Adventure". Apparently it incorporates the mechanics of a game called Infinite Loop into the Disgaea game world. A Prinny has been accused of murdering Laharl, and it's got to travel back in time to prove its innocence. The Prinny can "possess" other characters, and by doing so is able to see and hear different information, as well as spy on characters' private lives.

From what I can gather, Infinite Loop wasn't released outside Japan. I wonder if the Disgaea IP will be enough to warrant localising a game of this type for foreign audiences...
