It looks like NIS is pulling out all the stops when it comes to Disgaea 4, and if this trailer is any indication, that includes the one preventing lunatics from designing the PlayStation 3-bound strategy game's special attack animations. That's a good thing, I say.
Oh, and devotees of epic space anime Legend of the Galactic Heroes might find a semi-subtle bit of fan service in the video's opening minute. I challenge you to take a guess what it is in the comments!
I watched every episode of the original series of LOGH, but I didn't catch it. Was it musical? If so, I don't have sound right now (at work), which would explain....
Didn't have the patience to beat the first game, only got to the Commander Gordon part, but nonetheless the sprites from this game just look amazing. Also some of those moves in the trailer look a lot more complex than anything in the first game, seem like they'd be a lot of fun to try out.
I wonder if I'll like this? I mean I want to, but Disgaea had way too much grinding for me to get very far, and the sheer amount of injokes seems like NIS don't cater to potential new fans (which may be why they're flirting with bankruptcy).
I think of the first Disgaea as one of the past era's shining moments, and it ranks as a personal favorite for me. Amusing story, hilarious characters and infinite potential for character management. Sadly, after playing though the second and third games I admit I was disappointed with the series as a whole. It seems they drift further away from the appealing formula of the first with every iteration, so to say that I'm skeptical of this one is an understatement. Zany flash attacks and endearing cross-overs aside, they really need to work on making a likable main cast and a serviceable story arc to make me excited for this release.
...Yes I'm a consumer whore, I'll still buy it...
I buy every and all NIS games, even if the games are terrible. NIS is one of the few companies that bring these games over, and I want to keep it that way. ^^
Here's what's up: The narrator's voice actor is Ryo Horikawa, who also voiced Reinhard in LoGH. The opening minute is a parody of the opening of the show, which is all orchestra and serious business.
NIS is such an awesome company. Too bad about that Last Rebellion thing though.
I'm really excited for this game, loved all the first three, but did they cut out the female ninja? I have not seen her anywhere in a single picture or in any trailer, I even paused and looked at all the big fight parts, not one to be seen. I mean, I'm still gonna buy it and all, but I'll be amazingly disappointed if they cut out the female ninja, and even more so if they pull the same crap they did with 3 and were like "HERE'S YOUR FEMALE NINJA, JUST GIVE US MONEY FIRST". I mean I see pretty much every other class there, why the hell would they cut out the one I like?
