Discountoid: Cyber Monday 2008 photo

Just in case you didn’t max out all your credit cards on Black Friday, online retailers have fabricated a new bastion of American consumerism in recent years: “Cyber Monday.” It’s the Monday after Thanksgiving, and while Black Friday is still thought of as a day for brick-and-mortar retailers to make bank, Cyber Monday was designed to help so-called e-tailers kick off their holiday shopping season. It’s even got its own Web site, CyberMonday.com, which is sponsored by the National Retail Federation’s Shop.org -- so you know it’s legit!

So why should you give a damn? Why, because there are some great deals to be had on videogames, of course! LittleBigPlanet can be found at Amazon for $39.95 (20% off), Best Buy is offering a free 3-month Xbox Live Gold card with the purchase of Gears of War 2, and you can get Ninjatown for half price ($14.99) at GameStop.com. Follow me to the jump for the best of what Cyber Monday has to offer videogame-wise!

[Editor’s note: Most of these deals -- especially the ones at Amazon -- are only valid while supplies last; if you happen to click onto a particular item’s page and you see the regular price, then you’ve missed out. It’s already Monday all across the continental US, so go, go, go! Also, you can click on the images for all the retailers except for Target to be taken to their respective Cyber Monday videogame deals pages. --Samit]

@Cube: Um...BioShock was an Xbox 360 original, not a port -- in fact, it was exclusive to 360 and PC for over a year (360/PC released on 8/21/07; PS3 port released on 10/21/08).

I think Cube means that it was a port from PC to X360.

I played both, and the PC version is far superior.

This year is kind of disappointing except for the awesome haul at Best Buy.

Okay, I just want to say hat I'm sitting here at work and while Mondays don't usually bother me, after nine straight days off, I don't want to be here. Save me, Destructoid.

Guys, this is a great opportunity to check out Spore, not to mention add Katamari Damacy to your collection if you've previously missed out on it. C'mon, $10? What a steal!

Halo 3 for $37 bucks is a deal? Its seriously disturbing how slow prices are dropping this generation.
casualweaponry's Avatar
casualweaponry at 12/01/2008 08:09
@spaziswin $37 for the cat hat edition isn't that bad. Halo is notorious for taking a looooooong time to drop in price.

Which is surprising, because last year everyone was selling CoD4 for 25% off two weeks after release. And that game is excellent all around.

Whoops misread that a bit. Cat hat Halo is actually 45 bucks. Which is kinda a deal I suppose.

I just bought myself Halo 3 in Korea, which is region free for about $12 used....bought one for my brother for Christmas since it's so cheap. Games go down in price here eventually, regardless of popularity.

PS I remember a couple days ago someone accusing Cube of being a PC troll, and forgive me if I have the wrong guy(my memory sucks). Even if Bioshock is better on PC, doesn't change the fact that it's still remarkable on every other platform. $20 for Bioshock is a steal

...and $10 for Katamari Damacy is insane.

Soon we will have Oh-**** tuesday, it's the tuesday after thanksgiving and you realize you spent too much and are probably going to be evicted. The only thing special today is banks give out loans at higher rates and pay day in advance places triple their prices.
