The demo for Codemaster's latest game, DiRT: Colin McRae Off-Road, was released for Xbox 360 and PC earlier today. So if you've got a PC capable of running this game (recommended GeForce 8800), download the demo here. Otherwise, take a short intermission from your ongoing Halo 3 beta marathon to see what DiRT is all about.
I've never played a Colin McRae Rally game in my life, so I didn't really know what to expect when I took the 360 version of DiRT for a test drive. Overall, I really enjoyed my time with the game. The graphics are good, the arcade style racing is fun, and purposely crashing through signs and denting guard rails is surprisingly enjoyable.
The only issues I had with DiRT were the overuse of lighting effects and the fact that the game can drop below 30 frames per second when the action heats up. Although these problems may grind a few gears for some people, the good still outweighs the bad -- at least in my case, anyway.

"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

This is my review of the demo over on EG! You guys can check it out...
Summary: 1) it lacks solid force feedback with a steering wheel. You don't feel like your gonna spin out and yet your spinning out.
2) it has a ridge racer feel... the constant NEED to drift when rally is still about GRIP not drifting.
3) The graphics are AMAZING for a rally game! My mouth was to the floor about the damage skins and what not!
I thought it was decent on the controller! But on the steering wheel I didnt enjoy it to much... probably cuz im a big Forza 2 Demo fanboi!! :)
Its such a vague demo in terms of options but you can replay Hillclimb and the buggy shit for hours. I spent ten minutes on Hillclimb trying to get some crazy accidents but the demo is limited to its features. It does however show off the environmental damage like running over bushes and small tree's and having it feel like running over bushes and small tree's in real life. What impressed me the most was the guardrail damage. Its gonna be sick when it drops in a few week's.
Also, cocks I cant forget to mention the views.Oh the view's,in car has three options,Three options I say.And when you hit all the aformentioned bushes and shit its like nothing i've ever played in a racing game when the third of those options is applied. The out side views not so much. But hey it's only a demo so we'll see if there's more options to come.
All in all im super-wet for this one and am considering selling a kidney if it supports the forza super setup.
Exactly, it has that ridge racer thing going for it,which is what i like about it.Im not into realism much. It's definitly for the arcade racing crowd
That said, DiRT can be fun, but complately blows with the wheel. I finaly found some tweak options for it but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. I really don't like the races where you're against clock, though.
1.what the fuck is a "docter"
2.Been there done that and it's great the next day when you can laugh but I certainly didn't like the 2,800$ bill to get my baby running again.
When the most impressive feature of a game is being able to damage guardrails, there is something wrong.
I'll really enjoy DiRT for what it is. Yeah, could be more sim, but it's still fun as all hell, and it looks amazing. The realism and lighting effects really shocked me.
I don't have the wheel yet, so no comment on that.
Going to be a great/miserable 2 months of racing.
Great due to FM2, DiRT, MotoGP07 all out.
Miserable because I have a job, classes at night, and live with my GF.
And I'm still hooked on Test Drive.
Might as well quit my job and break up with my GF now...
