DiRT 3 mentioned by Codemasters VP photo

So uh, DiRT 3 -- it's totally happening. Seeing as how the current installment is one of the greatest racing games this generation, it's hardly surprising. Awesome? Yes! Shocking? Heck no.

The sequel was confirmed by Codemasters VP Gavin Cheshire in an interview with Edge: "There's some great stuff coming from Birmingham that’s going into Dirt 3, and obviously you’ve seen Bodycount."

Quite a relaxed way to announce the new game, huh? Thankfully, Cheshire provided some insight into what we can expect from DiRT 3. "I'm not saying we're throwing all the codebase away, but we’re throwing the thoughts away and coming out with something fresh and new."

"Because if you don't innovate, you're dead." Here's hoping we see something more substantial at E3.

Seriously, if anyone who reads this article is interested in racing games and hasn't picked up Dirt 2, go get it right now. I can't even imagine how they will improve on Dirt 2, but I am more than excited to find out when the time comes.

Well they could make it more about what the game was suppose to be originally about, point to point rally racing... It hardly had any in dirt 2. And the lack of after launch content, it had none. I have not touched my dirt 2 in months since there is no reason to get back on.

I'm excited that Dirt 3 is coming, but it sucks that they did not even add anything after launch, I was really hoping for some dirt 2 dlc...

Considering that this is their only profitable franchise, this seems like a wise move on Codies' part

Was playing DiRT2 with the HUD off, on the inscreen view on my Eyefinity rig the other day.

Dear god is it a good game.

I agree that it is one of the better racing games out there. A think that it was better for not just being a point-to-point rally game and i enjoyed all the events except those buggy things. Even the trucks were fun.

A new one definitely needs all the weather effects put back in. Also, maybe some shortcuts around the long animated menus

Ditch the non-rally stuff that appeared since Colin2005, put the effort into improved physics and handling, and weather effects. Give us real water traps and real watery surfaces when it's raining; snow, fog, even night rallying! Stop with all that multi-event nonsense. Better to be master of one trade than jack of all of them.
Remember your roots Codey!

Dirt 3 seems very fun! I love these type of racing games. I typically play on me amazing Orlando Projector Rentals equipment.
