I had to read the entire article before I realized this wasn't sarcastic. Not because I think Dimps is a bad developer or anything, but between the title and the fact that Jim wrote it, this seemed like a "blatantly better than" article.

That's weird. The HD versions were definitely more fun than Sonic R Redux.
I liked the "Fuck up and DIE" aspect of the game. I lost like 10 of my friend's lives by shooting straight into a cliff upon spawning.

Hrm. Kinda undecided on the news. I guess it sounds great, but I don't really remember Sonic Advance much. The Rush games were all right. I think it's a bit dick that Sonic Team apparently isn't the main designer/progammer of Sonic 4, mostly because it seems really inappropriate considering that its Sonic 4. Then again, Sonic Team seems to be only that in name and not in deeds, obviously.
So, whatever, it sounds kinda disappointing to me, but it might as well be a blessing in disguise for this game.

...I dunno; I had a problem with the Rush games, because I thought the Boosting mechanic made the speed overpower the platforming too much. The Boost was implemented far better in Rush than in Unleashed, though.
I don't remember that much about the Advance games, but I do remember that their Special Stages pissed me off.

I for one think a resurgence of good 2D Sonic is just what Sega needs, I know it's what I want. THey will see the positive public response and hopefully get the retro bug going and cut out all the other nonsense of late.
I just think this game had better blow lots of minds with fun, fresh, nostalgic Genesis fun. It shouldn't be so stale that people would figure it was kept in the refrigerator for about 15 years, and should be chucked out. However, it really doesn't need the sort of "innovation" we've seen applied to Sonic since about 2000. Basically, take the best of the old and give it some good new ideas applied effectively to what should be the game's solid base-formulas for physics and design. If it looks, plays, and sounds like a great Genesis game, then it might as well be--

I like this game simply due to its simplicity. Dr. Eggman and the protagonist being game play switches to an action-based, brawler style of play. The night-time levels feature slower, action-oriented gameplay, in which Sonic transforms into the Werehog. Its pretty long and tedious going thru all the levels while I have to fill out an application for payday loan . Where I come from you get more of the Sonic merchandise in goodies than the game itself .
