Did you win a Cursed Mountain prize pack? Follow me... photo

You know what I did this morning? I got up early and read a hundred and seventy separate comments about the survival horror you guys remember. No, I didn't skip any. I read them all. While it did take me quite a while, I think this contest was a bit more fun for me than most of the ones I run for the site. Of course, that's a bit biased because I love survival horror ... but also because it was kind of like sitting around the campfire with all of you and hearing how it all started for you when it came to loving horror. I really liked that.

Anyway, enough nostalgia -- you want winners! The video above was by far among our top picks, made by Snoogans775. Other winners were Elsa, for her mention of Carrier (nice one!), Qraze, who made his memories of fear into an inspired rap, Neveryll for his story about Infocom's The Lurking Horror, Bubamacko for his Photoshop horror entry, and also RoryKO, ScaryHairStudios, Phantomile, AngelEena, Yaobikuni, Biowisp, and FatherChesz. Congratulations to all of you! I'll be emailing shortly to get mailing addresses from all of you.

If you didn't win this one, make sure to check out the Rocket Riot contest for new opportunities to win free stuff from Dtoid!

yeah...I knew when 4 or 5 other people posted RE2 stories that I had a slim to none chance of winning. oh well I stand by my post and I think I'm a winner. Congrats to those who won and Snoogans definitely deserved a copy of the game/shirt.

I read Elsa's story, it was a good read and she managed to raise my interest in Carrier, which I probably only played once and forgot about shortly after. I need to give it another look when I get the chance. Grats to the rest of the winners.

Also, Colette, you have a lovely singing voice, you really should sing more often. :)

manasteel. i knew pert-near everyone was going to do re1 and i knew a poem would stand out much better but i thought more people would do poems. ya just gotta think what everyone else is gonna do and do something outside their box.

I was so excited when I got the email this morning... I actually did a happy dance! It was some pretty stiff competition, there were lots of fun and interesting entries (and Snoogan's song was awesome!).

I just love Destructoid! The personal touches (like Colette reading all the entries herself) really makes it feel like family here!

@qraze

Yeah, but I'm pretty much a Survival Horror Noob (so I'd be lying if I made an epic poem/video about the 25 minutes I've spent playing the genre), which is why I tried to go out of the box and talk about why it didn't stick with me after RE2 in hopes of getting a game that could prove what I'd been missing these past 11 years. Oh well...I'll definitely win the next one

Scrolling through the entries, my favorite was AngelEena's comic/story. Glad it won.

Unrelated but is there any way for users to edit/delete their own comments? Like say you make a contest entry but screw up the image links and want to fix em?

Congratulations to everyone who won. Guess I'll just have to pay Switzerland's extortionate price to get a copy (costs about 80$ to get any Wii game here).

@admantiumHip _if by gimmicky you mean people who really tried to be different and stand out from all the other entries, then yes.
